He would be the logical choice, right? Do the Celtics have to have a captain? Maybe they just won't have one this year?

I would be shocked if he wasn't.

We should just preemptively designate the captain moniker to Boston Celtics 2014 Lotto pick.

Or just keep it on ice until Pierce signs with us next year.

the best player on a team doesn't mean they are worthy of being a capt.  to be honest, i dont even know who should be capt.  rondo's off the court behaviors are not conducive to being a leader, even though can be a floor general on the floor.  to be a capt, the two (on and off the court) go hand in hand.

Anyone who does not believe Rondo should be our captain is absolutely nuts. He's the one guy who's been here through it all and he's up there with the best leaders in the game. I would vote Rondo for President, and I will vote Rondo for Captain.

He's got it all. And who else is there? Jeff Green? Avery Bradley? Brandon Bass?

Fab Melo???
Jeff Green - Top 5 SF

You got concrete evidence of that?
All the reports are hear say.

It's just easier to hate on Rondo, easier to blame someone.

Ya'll should be thankful he's still in this team.
He's our only draw, players would love to play with Rondo, and that's a fact.

I see nothing in his actions (or play, to be honest) that make him worthy of being the next captain.

From everything I have ever read about him, he is very difficult to get along with. He may be the leader to some on the court, but he never did it by himself. He is also clearly not a leader off the court, with reports of clashes with teammates and coaches alike.

I'd be very surprised, shocked even, if they name him captain this season. Let him have a season as the true "leader" of this franchise and see how he responds. Would anyone at all be genuinely surprised if he sulked and acted up if we start the season terribly?

This team needs a better roster, not a captain for the sake of having one.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
I'd hand it out in maybe a year.  Pierce is still The Captain, and I'm still sore that he's gone.

If I had to pick, Rondo's clearly the choice.

So do you actually have any concrete evidence that doesn't involve BS rumors by the media? The same media who dislikes Rondo because he blows them off all the time?

Exactly.
Some people just eat up what the media says..

Again,

Just like Cousy said,

Start listing great players in the league that don't ever clash with teammates and coaches. If you end up with more than a few names on your list then you don't follow the nba too closely. Your list of "leaders" would leave out most of the best players in nba history.
