Did everyone miss the part where Yogi never said that the cop was racist, only that he might be (as an example of a reason to be wary of the initial story)?

Or are we just willfully ignoring it?

Bingo, plus a bonus helping of treating stating a possibility as a reckless rush to judgment immediately after rushing to the opposite judgment.  Bringing up race is always going to be a volatile discussion but it seems like a lot of the criticism is directed toward pre-existing political boogeymen instead of Yogi's actual statements.

As far as Jones goes, if he made contact with this guy it's reprehensible and some form of battery, and he'd deserve some kind of league punishment for it.  But there's a difference between kicking a guy's ankle lightly and stomping on his thigh.  Have to wait and see.

EDIT: Oh, he's charged with harassment instead of assault/battery.  Probably closer to the former situation, then.

It also appears the "victim" had no injuries and didn't press charges.
