Jeff Goodman        ✔ @GoodmanESPN

This was a terrific hire by Brad Stevens as Ronald Nored is a rising star. I'm told he will have a role with the Celtics D-League team.

Here's a story on him from a few months ago:

http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/16/ronald-nored-hired-on-staff-at-south-alabama/

And here he is a few weeks ago commenting on the Stevens hire:

Here's one more.  Two years ago Nored said his goal was to work for Brad Stevens as long as possible:

Clover, thanks for the links, but they are to the same article. Do you have the other one?
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Didn't he play for Brad Stevens and Butler. He's one of the starters in that National Championship run after Shelvin Mack graduated.

I'm very optimistic, but I know nothing of his coaching abilities.

Great Kid; but in the NBA you need a little more cred.

I love the Stevens hire, but come on now. You need to bring some adults on staff, otherwise these NBA types will eat you up.

Nored is not saying a word of anything to Rondo other than 'when do you want me to pick up your dry cleaning sir?'

I think his job is more so with player development with their D-League affiliate because it would be laughable if he tried to instruct Rondo to do something..lol

Also, sources confirmed that @ronaldnored's role with the Celtics will be in player development, which includes the Celtics' D-League team.

we're trying to tank, so bringing un-experienced youngsters is perfect.

Utah beat writer Jody Genessy is going a bit nuts on Twitter:

Jody Genessy ‏@DJJazzyJody 9h

Coincidence or are the Celtics initiating Plan GH? First, they hired Gordon Hayward's college coach. Now they've added his pal Ronald Nored.

Jody Genessy ‏@DJJazzyJody 9h

What person close to Hayward will get the next job in Boston? Dad? Girlfriend? Jeremy Evans? C's are one hire away from a tampering charge.

Jody Genessy ‏@DJJazzyJody 8h

My how things change: Gordon Hayward's dad was Ronald Nored's assistant for Brownsburg High School's varsity team just four months ago.

Good catch... we can get him in free agency, or we can execute a trade for him next season

Can anybody else believe that Gordon Hayword is going to be a 20 ppg scorer basically by default next year?  Seriously, he is their only offensive option.  The league is going to be so random next year, I can't wait.

Sounds to me like he's not going to be a regular bench coach, but an additional hire: player development and Red Claws.

So what Stevens has actually done is get to bring in two young Butler guys to offset that his bench already had two holdover coaches on it when he arrived.  Except this way Stevens has guys spread throughout the organization.

Also, crass as it may be to say, he needs to bring in some African-Americans to offset his and the rest of his staff's whiteness, if you will.
