If he picks #4 my AI Besiktas jersey will officially be dual use.

Darn.  He was going to be fun to watch this year and bring some attitude too.

I also take it as a bad sign for Danny getting any takers on the players he'd like to unload.

I don't, even without Humphries we have 5 bigs who could play center. I think it's that he could get more minutes and if he's good a lot more than he'd probably get here. He was a second round pick, he is probably getting good money to play overseas. I think this is more about PT than anything else. Also, I don't know that Danny is trying at this moment to trade these guys away so fast... with Iverson off the roster we have 15 players, there is no need to rush anyone out now. Gives us more flexibility.

That's probably because they don't have any takers for Humphries and Bass, which means there's an unfortunate jam for playing time all around.  If they feel like they have to showcase, well, Bass, at least, that takes from playing time for JS and KO.  It also edges the team toward being better than is optimal and complicates Stevens's coaching job if he's going to be challenged with vets who could be unhappy on the bench.

Again, I don't think it's that we don't have any takers, it's about what Danny can get for them. There will probably be better offers mid season, especially if they play well. Also, like I said before (he hasn't signed as the update said), if Iverson does play overseas, we don't HAVE to make a trade now. When you have to get rid of people you take anything for them, right now we aren't in that situation, it doesn't hurt if we wait. You should know by now that DA doesn't make deals just to make them.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

You may think that, but I don't.  I think he'd love to have Bass, Humphries and Crawford off his hands, but if he's stuck with them for now that's suboptimal for the team.

I gotta agree with Shaq. This is a second rounder that can go overseas and develop for a year, while we retain his rights. There's no reason to jump the gun on trading Bass or Humphries prematurely. With Bass, teams needing a backup PF will want him at some point. I could see a deal with the Wizards for Ariza's expiring, but that's just a hunch.  Humphries expiring goes up in value at the trade deadline when some disgruntled star wants to leave their team or teams are trying to dump salary for a chance at a big name in the 2014 free agency class. Even if we don't trade Humphries, we get him off the books next year so he's a win-win. This isn't cause for concern, it's just the smartest move right now.

I'm glad you think that, you have that right. There is NO proof he has any trouble trading them. Now, if we are talking about what's bad or good for the team, give one reason why we HAVE to rid ourselves of them? Roster space? NO. Money? Maybe, but that's an easy issue to fix since we're not too much over to begin with, and it would take only getting rid of a contract like Crawford's to do that. Because they are poor examples for the young guys? No! So what legitimate reason do you have for getting rid of these players? I didn't say you didn't have a right to your opinion, I just don't see why you feel that way, I would appreciate it if you can let me know why.

Oh yea, when did I say he didn't want them off his hands? I don't know that he does or doesn't want to get rid of them. I just said he doesn't have to get rid of them as urgently as you seem to think he has to. I also gave you reasons as to why not.

I don't see it listed anywhere here so I thought I would mention that there is a twitter notice on hoopshype that says that Iverson signed a 2 yr deal with a one year NBA out in Turkey. That helps the Celtics with there excess players and they will get back a better player.

It's funny that I still think of AI when I see the name Iverson. I truly thought that's who you were talking about.
OMG! This wasn't about AI?????!!!! Oh maaaannnn.  I was so happy for him.

AI would be a turkey in Turkey.

Orlando has a turkey (glue) too.

Looking forward to seeing a more seasoned C. Iverson back with us next year. He's no turkey!

Still not a done deal?

First we had Chris Forsberg with this maybe-it's-not-a-done-deal-despite-the-Turkish-team's-announcement story that sounds like it came from CI's agent:

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celtics/post/_/id/4706257/iverson-to-turkey

Now, several days later the C's have a story on their web site that refers to CI only obliquely as an unsigned rookie:

http://www.nba.com/celtics/news/sidebar/072913-offseason-depth-chart-point-guard

Could it be there's still some hope for a deal that might make room for CI and SR by Thursday?

Unless there's a trade, it will be time to let Shav walk.

I hope Danny can make a good deal, but we'll see.

Melo and Crawford for anybody - Hell I'll settle for a 2nd round pickup and giving up cash for any team to pick them up.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;
