During tomorrow, Pero Antic will also sign 1 plus 1 contract with NBA team, Atlanta Hawks. He will be back to Europe on Friday night.

Not important at all for you guys i suppose you don't even know who this guy is, but for me is very important. So this topic is more of a bragging.

Pero Antic is from Macedonia, the same country as myself. Small country of 2 million people in south-east europe. He is the first player from my little country to play in the NBA and probably will stay the only one for a long time.

In the last two years he played for Olympiakos and was european champion two year in a row. He is one of the best defensive big guys in europe. So happy for him and i know you don't care about some random euro guy :) but i had to share this here with my celticsblog friends :)

Congrats to you and Macedonia and Pero!

Interesting that he'll turn 31 this week and is only making it over here now.

TP, and congrats. Antic is a highly talented guy, and although there's some doubt about how he can adapt to the NBA, he's got game.

He and McCalebb were incredible in the Eurobasket, maybe the Hawks should bring him, too.

Thanks. It looks like you watch euro basketball a lot. I don't know if you are from europe or not but i'm glad someone knows who Antic is and his qualitties. And for McCalebb it's unclear how that type of a player still hasn't played an nba game. Last year in the eurobasket he was in the best team and the last few years he is one of the best scorers in europe

Thank you.Interesting story about that. 5 years a go he was called and he played in orlando summer league in 2008. But after a week he came home and in a interview he sad that he can't play games every day and can't get used to nba schedule. He sad i'm not playing 82 games in a season when a can play 30 and get the same amount of money, hahah yes he is little crazy. He was switching teams every year, he was fighting or disagreeing with coaches and he was a trouble maker everywhere. He played in some of the best leagues and teams in europe. Russia,Greece but he was always stuborn. But despite his behavior problems his talent was recognized. At the end he is a 2 time euroleague champion.

did NOT mean to offend you(thats why i didnt say he's from Scopia),so no need to be sarcastic.

of course i do,but for us Greeks, its at least strange,a neighbour country to having the same name with a state of Greece.

Yes, I can easily see how he'd be offended by someone who can't spell the name of the capital of his country correctly :P

Regardless, I have never had a clue why this is "strange for you Greeks". Ever heard of Luxembourg? No, not the country -- the region in Belgium. Both the Belgians and the Luxembourgish seem to be fine with that one :P

Not to burst your bubble, but I don't think he's making it past training camp.

Plus, you've got it all wrong. He's Bulgarian :P

Since it is being reported that his first year is fully guaranteed, I have little doubt about him making the roster unless he quits or has a career-ending injury.

I don't think this is a problem for a team that had some success with Ivan "I was banned from the Korean league" Johnson.

I must I am quite surprised by this. I know Antic from the time he played in the Bulgarian championship, and frankly I don't remember him having that type of talent. And with his age, he's clearly not a developmental prospect. But perhaps I'm misremembering.

Atlanta have a very interesting mix of big men.

F - Millsap, Brand
C - Hoford, Antic

All have jump-shots with good range. Good interchangeability.

Seems purposeful for whatever type of system they are trying to install there.
