It is not just Boston. The problem with the media is everywhere. I grew up in Pittsburgh and there were some great sportswriters and great sportscaster. Now it is a bunch of pretty boys who know nothing and guys are just spout off opinions with nothing to back it up. The later might have known something years ago but now they just "mail it". A Myron Cope with his horrible voice but great knowledge would never get a job today. There is a pretty boy with a great voice who does a lot of sports in Pittsburgh and I cringe every time he comes on because the average fan walking down the street knows far more than he does.

Pretty fair points.

ESPN stinks mostly too.  Another big issue is that any ex player just walks into analyst jobs when many aren't really that good at the job and there are better sportscasters and writers for the job.

It certainly doesn't help that places like Grantland and MMQB poach the quality sportswriters when they do appear.

True but at least there is a safe haven to go to for some decent sports writing and opinions.
