Now it's GREG ODEN who has all the media waiting on "The Decision"? Are you for real?
A guy who has played in 82 games over a SIX YEAR career has teams lined up to sign him to the point where he needs time to think about which team will be lucky enough to get his services! This goes to show how big man starved this league is. Give me the old NBA any day where Centers ruled. The Parish's, Chamberlains, Malone's, Gilmore's, Olajuwan's, Ewings...REAL centers.  What a joke! Greg Oden to make his decision next week....ROFLOL!

well hes working out for teams, hes actually able to move around.

i think the more ridiculous one was the "race for bynum"

Right? At some reason people need to be reclassified. I dated the hottest girl in the 6th grade - know what she looks like today? I wouldn't imagine the general consensus to be "pretty" or "hot."

I'd bet my house and puppy Oden will never have a full, productive season in the NBA. By general standards, he fell a ligament or two short of winning the genetic sweepstakes.

This just shows how desperate some teams are.
 I'll care about his decision when he's played a couple of seasons being really productive. Can he play more than 10 mins a game? can he play 70 games this next season?

let me flip the OP question on its head

if you had a chance to offer Oden an incentives laden, non-guaranteed contract, why on Earth wouldn't you?

worst that happens is similar to the Darko situation last year (gone with hardly a dent in Wyc's wallet)

best case is that he finally stays healthy and becomes a bigtime contributor (without the pressure of having to live up to being a #1 pick by us)

no risk, all upside, makes perfect sense to me

I lol'd at this...Greg Oden is a bust, and I get why teams want to take a risk at him because of his potential...but for the media to blow this up and making it like the decision 3.0 is quite comical

Yeah, i HATE when i guy actually thinks about an important life decision. Those guys suck...


Wait, why are you so angry about this? He's not crying out for attention and putting on a TV special. He's just meeting teams and figuring out where he wants to go. He's not Lebron, he's a very humble and thoughtful dude who has an important decision to make. Ease up on the hatred....

All well and good and to answer your question, of course I would take a flyer on him, however, that wasn't the point. The point was why the HUGE spectacle as if he's Dwight Howard or someone who is somewhat relevant. He has done NOTHING to garner this much attention other than mere speculation over what he "possibly" can do IF he stays healthy. He should be thrilled teams are willing to give him a shot. Even when he was healthy for that short period of time he had garnered the reputation of being lazy and not really caring too much for the sport anyway! Now all of a sudden he's has teams drooling all over him to the point where he can sit back and make them all wait on who he is going to grace with his presence. ALL HYPE is what he's been since he was at OU and he's not worth the attention he's getting at this point in his "career" from the media. That's my point.

Easy big guy.  Hatred is a strong word and it's not in me to hate anyone so relax and I'm far from angry. Actually it's quite comical. It's called my OPINION which I have a right to have.

OK, so what's the emotion if its not hate? Guess that's too strong, but why the enthusiasm to start a thread wondering why Greg Oden has the nerve to actually think about this decision? He's not asking for this to be a big deal, and knowing a bit about him, I know he'd MUCH PREFER that it not be a public issue.

So when you are wondering "who he thinks he is" and "ROFLOL"ing around, what exactly is the emotion that you are feeling?

And by the way, think Jeff is right on this... if we signed this guy to a cheap money deal, this board would be HUGELY in favor of it, and rightfully so. Cheap option on one of the most gifted 7fters and genuinely good guys in the last 10-15 years? Count me in.

Somehow I don't think the Boys and Girls club is going to make a bunch of money from Greg Oden.

I would love to see the guy succeed... if he doesn't end up on the Heat.
