New thread for the upcoming season.

All I can say is nobody has ever been as excited about the signing of a back-up goalkeeper as me when Chelsea signed Mark Schwarzer!  ;D

I wish i was ascited too.... MU fails miserably in signing a quality midfielder.

You can`t go far on the shoulders of the 40year old Giggs

I like Tottenhams new home Jerseys, classic look.  Their road jerseys are pretty nasty though.

Shaping up to be an interesting year to say the least.

Still waiting on the resolution of the ongoing transfer sagas (Bale, Suarez, and Rooney).

- Tottenham broke their transfer record twice this summer.  They got the striker they have needed in Soldado but may lose Bale.  Paulinho strengthens their midfield.  Will be interesting seeing him play alongside a healthy Sandro. Letting go of Caulker was a head scratcher though.

- Man City has a new manager (Pellegrini) and brought in Fernandinho, Negredo, and Jovetic.

- United will be interesting to watch.  Start of Moyes' reign but I expected them to be a bit more active this summer especially for a creative mid.  They have been linked with Febregas and Modric.  Will have to see what happens with Rooney as well.

- Chelsea have Mourinho back in the fold, signed Schurrle, and have been active in their pursuit of Rooney.  Interested to see how Lukaku does this year.

- Arsenal are another one that have been quiet this summer.  Before the window opened a lot of people expected to them spend.  According to reports the are still chasing Suarez.

I never had much hope that the Mancs would sell Rooney. Wouldn't surprise me if his public sulking is just more posturing to get a big contract extension like a couple of years ago.

Unfortunately I don't think Chelsea are a serious Premier League contender. To win the Premiership you need a world-class striker. Torres isn't any more, Ba never has been and Lukaku will probably need a season or 2 before he can be ranked that highly.

So psyched for this weekend.  Current news is that THFC is trying to convince Bale to stay by promising him they will sign other big name players.  Fingers crossed!

I think Bale is gone.  The silence from him and the club is deafening.  Personally, I think a deal has been struck and they won't announce the deal until the end of the window to allow Tottenham to bring replacements in without teams thinking they are sitting on a pile of money.  I hope I am wrong but just don't see it.  Besides for as good as Bale is he isn't worth the amount of money that is being quoted.  More than Ronaldo...ridiculous.

i`m not so sure about that.

Suarez was also very vocal about his transfer request but eventually he had to change 100% his story.

i still think the most probable is Bale leaving london but i wouldn`d hold my breath

One of the BBC Sports writers thinks that Bale is gone following news that Spurs are about to complete two new signings

Spurs now look set to complete moves for Wilian and Erik Lamela. Anyone would think they were about to come into some money.

Yes it seems the story of the summer comes to an end. Real gets Bale for 93 + Koentrao (other reports say 78+Koentrao)

Is the player coming back from REAL any good?

It looks like Tottenham just tied up Willian for £30 million. That is a major major signing for Spurs. Puts them well ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool for that 4th place Champions League spot. I thought they badly needed someone with more creativity to pull the strings in that midfield trio. Perfect signing. Takes Spurs to another level.

Roma`s Lamela is said to be going to the Spurs too.

And Arsenal offers 40m for Benjema. Wenger desperately needs to strengthen his roster (btw arsenal has 180m in available cash... almost as much al the other PL teams!!!) but i he is the only real striker for Real ...

Looking like Bale will be sold for £94million which would be £14 more than Real Madrid paid for Ronaldo.

Quality player of course but there will be a ton of pressure on him. Real would want him to work out a lot better than Luka Modric.
