well said - With all that negativity surround Rondo since Ray Allen left to Doc...people are wondering on Rondo's maturity.

Then you have Doc praising Rondo of how smart he is and how he could be the best player, and that he left purely because he wanted to win and not rebuild

Then came the KG/PP trade: they have nothing but nice things to say about Rondo and that he has to be strong mentally and physically - I take this as passing the torch.

Danny basically came out saying he won't trade Rondo and repeating what the above said

Call it PR or whatever, but I think people DO respect Rondo, and that they aren't just saying things to make them look good in front of the media. Especially KG, KG is a person who speaks his mind, so therefore, I blame the media for making Rondo look like a locker room cancer.

The torch has been passed and I have no problems seeing us rebuild around with Rondo

Underpaid, prime of his career, and he's willingly spending it on team that's tanking.  Everybody bailed and he's still here.  Diligent.  Patient. And still loyal (like that's ever a question with Rondo).  We're rebuilding and he's not asking for a trade or making a fuss.  Looking back to how the majority of the Celtics fans treated him this past season in the light of what's happening now, it makes me want to puke.  This guy deserves better, especially from the Celtic's fans

The short answer is no. The media holds him in higher regard than Celtics fans do. It would take a trade to another team in order for Celtics fans to respect Rondo. We need to see him have a HOF career elsewhere and wonder why we let him get away.
