I feel depressed, angry, and happy all at the same time. I feel depressed because I only got to see Paul Piece in green and will miss him. I feel angry since I know I will have to see him in another uniform. I feel happy that he has a chance to win another championship ring even if it's not with us.

He will go down as one of the best Celtics of all time. I put him behind Bill Russell and Larry Bird. I just feel like he should only wore green his whole career. (I know I'm not alone on that!)

Still they will not remember him as a Nets player when they look back at his career. They will see him as a Celtic and his legacy will remain here. I can't wait till they raise his number in the rafters. Until then I will root for him only because in my heart I know he will root for us too.

Celtic fans should look to LA for managerial skills. Wear a green jersey as long as you produce. We get attached  with players that *hang on* with a team. Seems like the Red Sox are on the right track after cleaning house. Let's get with the program.

I live in Brooklyn and work 5 minutes from the Barclay's center. I stopped in for happy hour after work yesterday and the bartender was wearing a Pierce Nets jersey. Put a damper on the evening.

Read this and watch the KG and Pierce interview with Jackie Mac if you want to be bummed out.

Pierce has said he is understanding, would have done the same thing, hell he even still says "us" about the Celtics, but he definitely sounds hurt by it, KG too.  Just rough.  I know this is the right move but it still sucks.

Of course.  I believe them.  They both wanted to stay, change is hard.  But they also realized that staying meant a first round exit and delayed the rebuilding to Banner 18. I think ultimately if it was up to KG he would've stayed - but Pierce wants another ring.  He went thru a rebuilding phase once in Boston and didn't want to do it again.  SO it is bittersweet for them.  They wanted to stay but knew they have to move on. Ainge's trading of Doc started the process and the rest is now history.

Are you saying Paul and Kevin weren't producing?  That is foolish talk.  The question was can we surround them with enough to win.

You guys are right of course, but the part about Kobe, Dirk, Duncan and then Pierce not staying in Boston was tough.

I hope they have a legit shot at the title this year (they should barring injury, I think the Nets will be the 2nd best Eastern team).

They both sounded hurt about it.  I'm going to scream my head off for that first Net's game at the garden.

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would

I get it that people are upset, but the window for a plaer to produce is short. This trade helps everyone. Paul spends the end of his career hunting for a ring and the Cs rebuild. Paul is still a Cs legend and will be able to come back to boston and be a celtics the rest of his life.

did you see the interview with Pierce and KG sitting together ? very tough to watch - reminded me of what Larry said in his interview with Simmons about how he always appreciated Red's loyalty - how Red knew McHale had sacrificed his career in the '87 finals playing on a broken foot and would never trade him. i've always considered loyalty to be part of what made the Celtics a special franchise.

And yes, I understand that in pure basketball terms, Ainge made a smart move - maybe. but just like the Perk deal (which was a dumb move), the game ain't played on paper and I don't want the Celts becoming just another franchise - but Danny has made them just that.

Pierce talked about how it hurt to see teams like the Mavs say they would never trade Dirk, Spurs would never trade Duncan, Lakers and Kobe. But he had to live with constant trade rumors despite being the equal of all those guys.

KG said he felt like the whole deal had kinda been forced upon them and that they wouldn't have the ending to their careers in Celtic Green that they had wanted.

Pierce and KG are Celtics. KG always was - he just didn't find out until he got here.

Still makes me think about that 4th quarter in 2010.

The whole thing breaks my heart.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Mine, too, tenn_smoothie.  It was just starting to heal until I saw the pressers yesterday.  It is my opinion that the Celtics Always stood for loyalty.  Loyalty is a two way street, and it is earned...not bought.  Paul has given his loyalty to the team.  Money has nothing to do with loyalty (see: LeBron, Carmelo or Dwight).

Speaking strictly as a fan (maybe I am, as someone intimated, a fair weather fan), my loyalty is very strained right now.  (For background, I am 67 and been a fan of the Celtics since I was 12/13.  I was very upset when Danny Ainge was traded and again when Perk was traded.  I was devastated when Len Bias and Reggie Lewis passed away.  Now I am confused, hurt, devastated, and have a particularly irritating lack of understanding as to why this has happened.)

Anyway, well written.  TP for you.
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...
That is why it is called the present.
