I wonder where Mike Miller will go. Oklahoma City might make sense.

Brooklyn

I am loving these new luxury tax rules in the NBA.  It makes it possible to spend over the cap, but teams can't do it as wrecklessly as they previously used to.  Paying $12mil for Mike Miller previously could have been understandable if you're the Heat and have to pay anyone essentially double because of how much cap the Big 3 take up.  Now paying $23 mil for him under the new rules is a whole 'nother story.

Even the Lakers tightening up too.

I can't wait to see what happens with Brooklyn in 1-2 years.

All contracts are going to have to come down I think.  It'll either be that or there will be no middle ground: you make superstar money or low rent.

I really think, with these new rules, the max contract being based on your tenure in the league needs to be fixed.

I don't think so.  I think we're going to see that teams built like Denver, Golden State, and Detroits '04 championship squad are going to become MORE viable contenders now that these luxury tax ridden teams with multiple superstars will find it very hard to swallow now paying $20 mil per year out of pocket for these MLE players that have been huge for them to fill out their roster with over the past decade.

I do agree that the max contract needs to be fixed (i.e. ridden of).  That is what is killing the league more than anything in my opinion.  Lebron being worth far more than every other max contract player in the league absolutely kills the balance of the league.

He's cleared amnesty waivers after apparently making it clear that he didn't want to go to the Cavs.  Cleveland-based writer Tom Withers has reported hearing that Miller wants to go to the Grizzlies, but Woj says OKC is the front-runner.  Spurs and Rockets are also said to be in the mix.
