With the continued increase in Centers I'd rather keep Colton Iverson, Veetor and Shav than Fab Melo;

Likewise with the 2 guard position: we have Lee, Bradley, Bogans, and Crawford;

Can we do it?

We could waive them but they would still count against our cap.

Why would you not just trade for a future 2nd?

And what's so hard to understand about the word: project?

I saw that Fab Melo regressed during Summer League - he was overweight, slow, plodding (in a bad way), no situational awareness, no aggression;

Come on, he had the whole of April and May to improve and he did not.

Nothing. But Fab Melo is less than a project. He's a concept.

Rather a vague notion IMHO

No, but The Celtics are teetering over the edge of the luxury tax as it is. To waive two players, and have to add salary to replace them, would surely put them over. Which a) they don't want to do, and b) would jeopardize/nullify the trade exception.

(a wiser CBA thinker can please correct me if I am wrong)

And, as said, what would you do instead anyways?

Lumping Melo and Brooks together is a leap. Brooks is a legitimate NBA scorer and an upgrade over Crawford.

Melo is not a project or a concept. He is a conundrum wrapped inside of an enigma.

We would more likely trade them for trade exceptions than just waive them. I'm sure several teams would be willing to take a chance on them.

The question now is: which team will be willing to accommodate use to release Fab? IMHO we need to add a pick as compensation for this team tho.

The Celtics could easily stretch someone and get under the cap enough to afford to waive a couple low money players and take on minimum contracts to replace them.

I'd rather take a chance on someone like Austin Daye who I think is a steal still out there or Luke Babbit than waste more time, roster spots, and money on Fab Melo.

Brooks has to be tradeable, I mean he has shown the ability to score, is on a rookie contract and has only one guaranteed season left.  Someone would want him and probably give up something of value for him.
