Asik doesn't want to be there.  Hes too expensive to be a backup.  Houston could use either Humphries or Wallace.  Makes sense, no?

Not really.  Asik is far better than Humphries/Wallace and has a much more desireable contract than Wallace.  Houston would never make that trade for either guy.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Humphries and Wallace are serviceable to Houston and Asik reportedly wants out.

There are probably better offers than the proposed trade, though.

Bradley and/or pick will strongly tempt them.

It doesn't make sense.  I think they would want a PF who can at least hit a midrange jumper.  I think Bass would be a better fit for their team than Humphries, but then Bass is the better player.

Don't really want him...

I doubt hell ever be more than a very overpriced role player.  I seriously believe that Humphries can probably give us the the same type off production as Asik, and were only devoted to him for one season...

If were making trades to bring in Asik then we really are bad...

Asik is really good and has improve a lot over the course of the season. He's not the same guy as he was when he was on the Bulls.

Asik is good, but I wouldn't pay him 8M this season and 14M the next when we need minutes to develop our young players. Houston would also want a young player to do this, and I don't think that makes sense.

Morey probably doesn't want to pay him the backloaded year of his contract to backup Howard, so he's probably trying to unload him.

Who would probably want to pay him? a team in need of a defensive center to contend. I think OKC is the perfect destination, hence the 3-way trade proposal here.

This way, Houston gives you a future asset, and OKC gives you 2 assets for eating Perk's contract.

If you trade straight for Asik you have to give assets, and HOU is not taking Wallace unless you give multiple first round picks. If you're trading Humphries for Asik, you're losing your cap flexibility around next Draft. Doesn't make sense, in my opinion.

I think I read somewhere that Harden/Howard want Asik/Lin to stay as they think it increases their chance for a chamionship. Humphries as well as Wallace(especially) will not land you asik. You would have to add something. I would also prefer to have HUmphries of the books after the season then paying asik 14m next year

He's a roll player in the Mutomobo/Ben Wallace mold.  His defense is very very good- he's a real difference maker on that end.  If you mean that Humphries can average similar points/rebounds/blocks, then I agree.  But this isn't fantasy basketball.  Asik makes a far greater impact on wins and losses.

Asik is 27 and of course it would be better to build around someone a bit younger.  But Jeff Green is 26 and he is still thought of as a young prospect to build around by many.  I'd take Asik over Green any day.

You won't pay him 8 million this and 14 million next.  You pay 8 million this season and 8 million next season.

And there is no way Houston does this.  I don't even think if you added a first Houston does this.  Asik is a far better player than Wallace and Humphries and for a real title contender you don't just downgrade without getting quite a few long term assets in the process (and then you still might not).

The only reason I could see Houston Potentially interested in this is for the purpose of Humphries expiring so they can more quickly allocate those funds to other positions of needs like a stretch 4 or a non-ball dominant PG.

We probably would have to either give them a first in a Humphries for Asik swap or take on Lin's salary along with Asik and send back another player that could see court time for them right away like Terry or Bass.

With Sullinger and Olynyk I think we have some good young post scoring building blocks, but it would be smart to add a defensive minded big to pair with them and make up for their failings. I think Asik is a perfect compliment to those two.

Lin is a + value, why would they move him for - value on the Celtics.
