Idea: Rondo, Wallace, Bass & Lee for Bierdrins, Jefferson & Mo Williams

Considering the strong amount of debate around Rondo, I thought it would be interesting to pose this. Basically, would you be in favor of using Rondo to rid the team of every long term contract but Jeff Green? I happen to believe both teams would consider this, and personally I think is would bring the Cs back to a championship faster than by keeping Rondo -- a decent young core combined with a high 2014 draft pick and tons of cap space (and subsequent flexibility to make deals). 

And please don't respond 'the Cs would have to get 3 first round picks too' to this thread. Not happening, and it defeats the purpose of the question. Thanks.

It's a good question and I would have to say yes. I would love to remain competitive, BUT if we can rid ourselves of the albatross contracts and get a bunch of expirings, then yes I'd be all for it.

Only thing is, Utah would have to throw in 3 first round picks too

Biggest issue would be having money to resign their youngs. But it would have to be something they'd sleep on before deciding. Rondo, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Kanter is an exciting young team of complimentary pieces. And they'd be deep with Burke, Wallace, Bass, Lee, Williams, and change on the bench.

oh hell no.  We're getting back 3 crappy players -- Mo Williams being the best of them and he was injured last year himself -- and we're giving up a topflight PG, a very serviceable SG, a very serviceable PF and a 3/4 player that prior to last year was a very good player.

What you seem to be missing is this is precisely the point of a trade such as this -- to get back nothing.

Wallace is the only really bad (couldn't be disposed of otherwise) contract the C's have, and in the worst case I'd ride it out rather than give up Rondo to get rid of it.

Rondo over the next 12 months should deliver something really worthy for the rebuild.

You also bring up a good point. Jefferson and Biedrins really do suck (lol.)

I think the OP's idea was to rid ourselves of all our long-term contracts, which also isn't a bad idea because I believe that could make us players for the 2014 free agent class, which is suppose to be loaded.

All expiring. Meanwhile, the 4 existing Cs have a combined cap impact of $36mil in 2014-15. So which is more valuable to the rebuild -- Rondo (and a worse 2014 draft pick) or $36mil in cap (and a better pick)?

Rondo's not a top-10 player. Sorry. I mean, I love the guy, love that he's on my favorite team, love watching him play, love his interesting personality, etc. I'm not even in favor of trading him for expirings. All that said, he's not a top-10 player. Probably about 25th, without doing any counting.
