KO look great to me ....matter fact he seemed to be cruzing along much of the time,  not pushing himself.

I would say this summer league was not a good indicator of Kelly's talent.....

I think he I whole heck of a lot better than he showed in summer league.

Olynyk looked good, but not better than Oladipo to me.

Still great news and I'm excited to see him in green... But Oldaipo looked like an NBA starter from day 1 to me.

Anyone else hear Scal this morning insist that, after a couple of years of developement, KO will split time between the 4 and as a stretch 3?

Personally I can't see it - waaaay too much of a defensive liability.  But hey, if Vlad Rad can play the stretch 3 effectively (using that term loosely) maybe there's hope.

Our boy Olynyk still #1 even after Las Vegas Summer League. Strong performance by Cody Zeller but i'm still skeptical in how his game is going to turn out vs seasoned nba players.

Olynyk if anything will be able to score against anyone in the league imo. Just too many moves and worse case a reliable mid range jump shot that is as good as automatic.

Can't wait until the season starts

When you factor the pure garbage KO was playing with, I don't think there was any question he was the best summer league player.

Every team other than the DL select team had at least one, sometimes two or three, second year guys.  Our second year guy was Fab Melo who was a DLeague guy.  Imagine if we had Joseph and Sullinger playing and how that would have opened up more assist opportunities and more open looks for KO.  His rebounds might have gone down though.

i would also. But i doubt he would play directly against val. Olynyk either by the design of the celtics or other teams always played against other teams pf.  And from either viewpoints it makes sense to play him there.

If you put say miles plumlee or val against Olynyk, Olynyk has a good to decent chance to neutralize their offensive production. But if these guys have to face Oly on their end, Oly could just live on the perimeter all day, nailing mid range jump shots. In addition pulls guys away from underneath the basket to get rebounds , block shots and clog the middle.

This is why i'm saying, Olynyk is going to be a matchup nightmare for most teams.  Prob three guys on top of my head that could cause him problems on both ends could be Monroe, Cousins, Cody Zeller. Guys who are just as tall as him, coordinated, high iq players. Luckily not too many of these kind of players exist in the nba.

Oladipo looked good but part of the reason is that he had the ball in his hands, a lot.  He's got all the skills and the motor, but let's see what he looks like against true NBA level talent. Same thing for KO, frankly.  It's very hard to translate SL performances

Summer league doesn't mean anything. It just doesn't.

Sometimes its promising and it pans out, other times players wilt against superior competition in the real NBA.

Similarly sometimes guys aren't great right away but turn into stars later.

So you rather see a bad to mediocre summer league performance? Does that still mean nothhing?

I don' think its a negative outlook to say that summer league isn't meaningful. As you say it still would mean nothing if he'd played poorly. Its a four game sample against sub-par competition without much practice or work beforehand. Team-play typically is very poor and rotations, roles, and the rest are all ad hoc.

I'd rather he play well, but the evidence of past summer league doesn't show any sort of consistent relationship to actual ability to play NBA basketball.

I guess we all forget the Dionte Christmas era. Remember how great he was last year in the summer league. That said, great to see Kelly at the top of the list of rooks who played this summer.
