Not sure if that would work salary wise, but it might with the Bobcats being under the cap.  We would get a trade exception of about 8.7 million as well.  We might need to throw in a late first rounder.

Why for Charlotte?  Gerald was arguably the BEST Bobcat player EVER!!  A great veteran for MKG to learn from.  Humphries is a rebounding machine (and I do NOT expect Zeller to be a rebounding machine for them at PF yet) and is an expiring.  Bass would open up the floor for Big Al's post ups.  This might give Charlotte a chance at edging into the playoffs THIS YEAR.

Why for us?  Clearly, we get rid of three years of Gerald, as well as two more years of Bass.  Also, we get a semi-decent veteran center (that would NOT have played in Charlotte much anyways) and a good back up PG).

Besides, Charlotte will still have PLENTY of cap room next year even absorbing Wallace's contract.

Thoughts?

I've seen a lot of trade proposals floated around like this.  Some one more knowledgeable than me can verify, but

We cannot combine the salaries of any players we get from the Nets with any other players.

Unless you can break this trade into a series of smaller trades where Nets coming in aren't combined with other salaries, it is not legal.

That also means no trade exception.

Not a bad idea.

I've always liked Ben Gordon and it be nice to have a true backup PG in Ramon Sessions.
Plus Haywood gives us size.

The problem I have however is we do give up WAY too much size in this deal.

Trading Bass, Humphries and Wallace leaves us really short on size.

If we could somehow substitute Humphries or Wallace with Courtney Lee, Jordan Crawford, Avery Bradley or two of the three, that would be better.

Maybe something like
Celts get Gordon, Haywood, Sessions
Bobcats get Bass, Lee, Crawford, Humphries

I don't see why Charlotte would trade for a 3/4 as two 4/5s when they just signed big Al and drafted another power forward, especially when they're giving up two guards and a true center.  And they're adding about $15 mil in payroll next year and $10 mil the following year.  It's a great trade for the celtics, and while I know that the bobcats don't always make sense, this deal seems to make even less sense than normal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the point of this deal to she'd Wallace's cap hit. Without him in the deal what's the point. We would just be trading similar assets for the hell of it.

Why would Charlotte take on 2 huge contracts with the 2014 free agent crop coming up?

It also does nothing for either team basketball wise.

This is what you ge with a bored fanbase and a lousy roster.

I would do this trade in a heartbeat.  Not sure if Charlotte would though...do they really want one horrible long term contract and one average long term one?  Humphries is probably the only guy in this trade they would have interest in.

I'd jump at the chance though.

If we included the first Brooklyn first rounder we picked up or the Clipper first rounder, would they do it?

I am not aware that we could not package Wallace and Humphries.  I think we have to wait about a month though.

Well, I am not sure if that's what the original poster was going for, but I would much rather shed Bass and Lee of the books before Wallace.

considering the evaluations you've given of players in other threads, that definitely makes the original deal the better one.

it's not a good deal in the sense that we're not getting anyone back that we'd actually want to keep.   no good assets to build on.  It's not worth giving up Bass and GW to get nothing of real value back.

With your suggested Deal, Charlotte would be left with only 1 Guard (Walker) and 7 Bigs. I don´´t think they are interested in Wallace but if they are:

Wallace/Lee/1st/2nd -> Haywood/Gordon (15$)

I would do it in a Heartbeat but I doubt it will be enough. Haywood is a cheap filler for our hole at Center and gordons contract combined with humphries would be 25$ in expiring contracts.
