NY, SA, and Washington also interested in the 25 year old 6-11 center

In 17 mpg in the Spanish league, he averaged 9.3 ppg on 59.4 % from the field and 79.3 % from the line and added 4.6 rpg.

Haven't we learned by now (see most recently the Gigi Datome stuff) that foreign news outlets aren't particularly reliable when they say an NBA team is looking to sign a foreign player nobody has ever heard of?

why? The celtics were very likely looking at Datome, just because we didn't sign him (yet) doesn't mean the rumors that we are interested in him are not legit.

Exactly. And you said, "see most recently the Gigi Datome stuff", is there another example you could provide?

Eh, a couple years back there were reports the Celtics were "on the verge of trading for" Andres Nocioni.  Never heard a single legitimate news report about it.

The point is that if an American outlet / source hasn't picked this up, it's either the player's agent just putting this out there to garner some attention and interest, or it's simply made up.

Maybe the Celtics have a scout who has watched this guy play, or something like that.  Maybe they've even asked him about his desire to come over.  I wouldn't read anything more into it than perhaps that the Celtics could use a 2nd rounder on him at some point in the future.

Meh....   big guy playing with poor quality players

Fab is better if he quits goofing off and plays with attitude and purpose.

That's not a legitimate example because you said players no one has ever heard of. Nocioni was an established pro. However, more on the Nocioni rumor and source...

ESPN.com is reporting that the C’s may be involved in a three-team deal to acquire Sacramento forward Andres Nocioni. According to the report, the 76ers and Kings are looking to swap Samuel Dalembert for Kenny Thomas but may need a third team — the Celtics — to pull off the deal.

I think the time I'm referring to was back when Nocioni was on the Sixers, or something like that.

In any case, a good rule of thumb is that if somebody like Wojo or David Aldridge isn't reporting it, it's either not significant enough to be news, or it isn't actually happening.

Can someone come up with some examples of undrafted Euros who have come over as free agents and made positive impacts on NBA teams?

Pablo Prigioni fits the bill.  Others?
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I would be fine with the C's looking under every rock for a center. We currently have two centers and both are on our summer league team...
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I hear ya...

But a guy that avg 4.9 rpg in Spanish league would mean we'd have 3 Centers instead of 2 in Summer league :-\. Less minutes for everybody.

My hope is that the person who deserves the minutes will step forward and grab them, the more Centers they have the more likely they will have a player worthy of those minutes.

I don't think so.  I can't give any examples off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure we've seen international rumblings about signings--I don't remember, maybe the China guys last year?  some of the Brazilian guys?--before they end up coming to fruition.

Calderon, Oberto, Garbajosa, JC Navarro, Herrmann, etc... obviously all to different degrees.

Don't care so much about summer league, but I'd be up for three developing young centers--maybe this guy, Fab and Iverson--each getting about 15 minutes a game in a 'rebuilding' year.
