Expectations for this season.

 In many ways this is looking more fun than the last two years. Even though we were a good playoff team ever since we traded Perk I didn't think we could win a title anymore.
 
 This year geesh. I don't know what's going to even happen I think we could be anywhere from 25 to 45 wins. Stevens could bomb, or look like boy genius. We should tank for one year, but will we. What are your expectations.

Trading away the worst offensive player in the league and a guy that his team is going to amnesty is the reason we couldn't compete for titles the last two years? We were up 3-2 on Miami 13mths ago despite Jeff Green missing that series (an actual asset, unlike Perk), but we couldn't win a title after trading Perk?

32-35 wins.

I expect us to develop some of the young talent we have especially Olynyk and Sullinger.  It's time to see if Avery can take the next step and if Melo can stick in the league.   Going young we will tanking passively but developing our talent.  I expect us to show case guys like Wallace and Humphries.

Perk was damaged goods when we got rid of him.  Look at his stats since then.  It's a delusion that we would have won more with him on the roster.  Jeff Green today is x3-4 times the player Perk is today.

Young guys play a lot, and improve noticeably over the course of the season.

Danny makes one or two moves to shed some more long-term salary and maybe add another future asset of some kind.

I disagree.  Another year in the playoffs doesn't necessarily mean that we are going to be "stuck" in mediocrity for a long time.  We are in a situation where we can rebuild this team without having to tank for Wiggins or Parker.

DA could make this a 35-40 win team easy,  he could have added Milsap or ASik ,  but he didn't ....

this  avoiding players like that at this time to me indicates , he is in full rebuild mode,  he can 't publicly ever mention tanking, as its not ALLOWED . 

Going for an future all star player is the way to go , now that the course is set....I think he holds course to get a shot at the top 4 picks in the draft.

We'll know for sure If Rondo is out playing early and alot.

Pressey might be the point guard he needs to look good and tank.( without ever saying as much...... if you have tickets, just suck it up and wait , the C's will be good again one day

Unless somebody takes a giant leap forward  (Green, Sully, KO)  I cannot see us winning more than 35.

The X factor is Wallace.  If last year was a fluke we might make the playoffs as the 8th seed.

Depends on when Rondo comes back.

I'm thinking the Celtics are in the neighborhood of 25 wins but a early Rondo comeback and this team could very well battle for a low seed in an awful Eastern Conference.

This season should be about:

Getting Rondo completely healthy and not rushing him back (assuming that you don't trade him).

Allowing Jeff Green to develop into a leader on this team and become more consistent as the premier scorer and PP replacement.

Allowing Sullinger to come back completely healthy and see if he can continue where he left off. Figure out what his ceiling is.

Allowing Olynyk to have a lot of time out there to see what he can become. It was just summer league, but you can't say you haven't seen Dirk flashes in the kid so far.

Determine if we have anything at the true center position in Melo, or Iverson, or another possible big. If not we will need to search for that elsewhere.

Sort through all the other guys to see if any of them can fill roles on a contending team. Send the other ones packing.

Allow the expiring contracts to go away.

Allow Brad Stevens to put his stamp on this team and develop along with the other Rookies.

Be in a position to have a shot at drafting a superstar. Preferrably Wiggins in a perfect world.  The worst thing we could do is to barely miss the playoffs.

Wallace is a backup SF who may see 20 minutes per game if we keep sliding Green to PF. So I don't see how he can be the X factor, given that he plays the primary position of our best offensive player.

For those who had forgotten, after suffering three concussions in a short period of time, Wallace says he won't bang with bigger guys anymore -- so no playing him at PF.

Imagine Wallace becoming the veteran lynchpin of a surprisingly effective bench unit that doesn't automatically give away leads earned by the starters by getting guys like Jordan Crawford to play defense instead of just being a chucker.

I could see Wallace showing some leadership in getting players to get in line with the reported defense-first philosophy of Brad Stevens.
