The Golden State Warriors reached agreement on a three-year deal with Cleveland Cavaliers forward-center Marreese Speights, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

Speights averaged 10.2 points and 5.1 rebounds with the Cavaliers after being acquired during the season from the Memphis Grizzlies. He became a free agent after he opted out of the final year of his contract, which would have paid $4.5 million next season.

Speights will likely be the Warriors' first big man off the bench, replacing former Warriors forward Carl Landry, who agreed on a contract with the Sacramento Kings.

Speights will be playing for his fourth team in his sixth NBA season.

Speights is as good as they could have hope for with C.Landry gone.

Golden State have gotten a lot bigger with Speights. A legit 6-10 250lbs rather than a 6-7 undersized PF. A combo PF/C. Combine that with (hopefully) a healthy Bogut (7-0, 260lbs) and a 2nd year Ezeli (6-11, 260lbs) and the Warriors big man depth has some serious size in it.

Solid replacement for Carl Landry.

I like this signing, he can shoot like Landry and rebound. Not as energetic but for a replacement, not bad.

Considering the free agent pool, there really wasn't a better alternative though. I think this is a solid signing for the Warriors. Now the question is who they replace Jarrett Jack with.

Beno Udrih would be an excellent Jack replacement.

Im not even sure if they will have a replacement. Iggy isnt a bad ball handler and passer. For when curry is running, maybe let iggy control the ball and have Harrison barnes at the 3.

Andre Iguodala.

He has really good court vision and can create his own shot. Well, not the best at creating hisnown offense but he can.

They still need a guard off the bench. Not necessarily to facilitate since they have Iggy, but they can't run Curry out there 48 minutes a night, especially with his ankles.

I thought the Lakers should have hired J.O'Neal to be their backup center behind Pau Gasol. Bring in a quality defensive anchor and shot-blocker for that second unit. Nice contrast versus Pau and capable of playing alongside Pau in a bigger lineup where necessary. I thought that would've worked really well for LA.

I think Ezeli is a fantastic backup center. I have him ranked 2nd best in the league and only 2nd because Omer Asik figures to have a bench role once again with Dwight Howard coming in. Adding J.O'Neal would give Golden State probably the best third string center in the league behind Ezeli. Very impressive depth.

Then again, with Bogut, Golden State will likely need every bit of that depth!

It sounds like GSW is thinking about using Iguodala at PG as well as at SG and SF.

They could run a four man perimeter rotation of S.Curry, K.Thompson, H.Barnes and Iggy. Play them all around 35 minutes a night. Especially so in the playoffs if not in the regular season when they want to shorten that rotation.

I don't think they have decided for certain yet but I believe they are thinking it over as a way to keep their best players on the court for the longest minutes possible.

Because all three of Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes and Andre Iguodala are capable of playing 38-40 minutes a night in the playoffs. Shame to sit one of your best players to play the 10th best guy on your team instead. Especially with Iggy's versatility.

Gotta try to find a way to maximize that wing trio. Not enough minutes available for all of them at SG + SF alone. So either go big with Iggy at PG or go small with H.Barnes sliding over to PF to get them more court time.

They are bringing that International guy. He's a SG though.

BTW, Iggy, Klay and Barnes at your wings when Steph is resting? Thats some big wing lineup.
