Boston Sends: Gerald Wallace + a future 2nd round pick

Sacramento Sends: Marcus Thornton

Why for Boston: We would get a scorer at the 2 guard spot, his deal is also 1 year shorter than Wallace's.

Why for Sacramento: That team really needs another SF, they'd also get a good locker room guy who would hold other guys & himself accountable. They may want an additional sweetener for taking on an additional year of salary, so I put in the 2nd rounder.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Wallace makes 30$ / 3years while Thornton only makes 16$ / 2 years...that´s a huge difference. In addition, Thornton had a PER of 16+ las year while Wallace was at 11,5. They  are taking back a much worse contract in addition to taking back a worse player. I doubt a 2nd round pick makes the trade sweet enough for Sacramento.

I think our best option with Wallace is to utilize his veteran presence to help the youngins learn the ropes. Hopefully in a new system, surrounded by new guys he turns his play around...which he is certainly capable of doing. We've seen it. If he can justify his contract, then we might be able to flip him for real value at the trade deadline or even next year with an additional year off his contract.

He's only thirty. I refuse to believe he's washed up. In fact, I know that he isn't.

They also drafted Ben McLemore and are close to a deal with Monta Ellis. Seems like he's not in the new owners' long-term plans. Gerald may be the lesser player, but he'd fill a greater position of need.

The Celtics don't need another shooting guard.

They are looking for a shooter at the three. A veteran shooter who can pass.

But it doesn't look like they are going to find one in free agency. May need to consider alternatives.

Thornton is a really underrated player and I'd love to have him on my team. He's unquestionably a 20-point scorer in this league if he gets starter minutes, and he doesn't do it at the expense of the rest of the team. However, like Who said, Sacramento wouldn't have much perimeter shooting whatsoever if they bring in Wallace as a SF. I don't see them doing this.

I don't think he really fits into what Sactown is doing. Here's a shot thiugh, what about Wallace, Bass and one of our guards (lee or crawford) and a 1st rounder for Wesley Matthews and Aldridge! ?!?!?!

Yes they do. There isn't a single guard on the Celtics that can score right now.

Trade Courtney Lee for Ridnour or Barea + have M.Thornton take over C.Lee's minutes.
