Solid idea.  Detroit wouldn't do it.

Interesting. Whether or not it could happen would be largely dependent on whether Dumars uses heroine and/or meth 3-4q. :)

I just don't like it. As others said, how bout we keep RR and JG, add a legit SG somehow and a decent C, and build around that? I'm confused why we give away are to best players in "hope" of getting a future superstar? I'd rather develop talent and trade a group of decent to good players for a great player.

OP is a big time pro-tanker. Not surprised to see this type of deal from him. I'll pass.

I've thought of this. I originally had hopes involving Millsap and another elite big.

Danny pondered over this though and being a stats guy, it's hard to justify the move unless either Millsap, Smith (one of those good/decent free agents) or the new centre are going to be franchise guys.
Not a high enough probability of that happening.
How do we get someone like Monroe off the Pistons with our assets without giving up Rondo or Green? We can't.

2nd problem as I said is that Rondo hits the market not this season but end of 2014-15.
We aren't even guaranteed he'll sign or that big name FA's will come if the Lakers, Mavs, Magic, Nets etc are all ready to throw money at them too.
This way we have a whole crew of young guys signed up but we also (hopefully) have a franchise guy that we drafted.
We'd have two seasons of chancing the lottery and then the cap roomn to add free agents to those young studs.
Rondo could come back and bring someone with him...
Just a dream.
I just can't see us adding the big man like Monroe and another player like Smith.

Around this concept, i think only trade i would possibly do is

Rondo, Gerald Wallace, Keith bogans and bass, for
Drummond, Charlie V, Stuckey, And 2014 first rounder

This to me is a fair trade, we have a center to now build around, and Kyrie Irving is a free agent next offseason.
With this being said, mid-season i trade jeff green and Detroits First rounder to a team that is sucking just as bad as us in a swap for their 2014 first rounder, we then have 2 top 5 picks next year, as well as Nets late 1st. I would then Give kyrie Irving a max contract next season.

Kyrie
Wiggins
Randel
Olynyk
Drummond.

Lol idk anything about randel but heard hes supposed to be a future star aswell and to me that starting 5 has 4 future Allstars, going into the 2015 year. Somewhat with how OKC drafted KD, Russell West, and Harden. I would do this in a heartbeat and i believe the pistons would aswell. But idk if Danny is thinking this, nor do i know if Kyrie would sign with the Celtics over lets say... Playing alongside lebron James, where ever lebron goes.

With RR, AB (I'm not nearly as high on him as others), JG, Sully & KO (if they can play up to their potential) we have a decent base to build with IMO. We have to figure out how to get a legit C and SG and we are back in the game. Tanking it does not guarantee us jack &%$#. Rather keep building up our assets and make a play for someone we like. Maybe we suck this year and get lucky in the draft and BANG we're back. IDK

Now thinking abou it, i believe our best bet is to trade rondo, for cap space and a 2014 first round pick. I love rondo but cap space and 2014 first rounder has light years potential than what rondo for 1-2 years has. With all the rumors of rondo always being traded and how the media of boston has treated rondo, do you guys really think hes going to want to stay in Boston? I highly doubt it.

I think jeff greens value will be larger mid season, along with rondos, but if we could get Drummond right now for Rondo, i like that trade.

I have not seen enough of Drummond, what I have seen of him he looked very raw to me, IMO Munroe is further ahead of him.

But either way we would still be in the same position. PG with no Big or a Big with no PG. This is why I say DA has to be creative here and keep Rondo and still find a way to get a Big. ;)

If you see on my post above, i said in this trade wed get Drummond and have enough cap space to give kyrie Irving the max after next year, which to me would be an upgrade over rondo next year and i believe rondo is possibly going to leave us next year in 2 years anyways.

Well spill the beans. Are you completely against trading Rondo? Or Rondo and Green? Drummond isn't enough or Drummond+ Pope +those assets isn't enough? What exactly do you expect for an all star and an excellent starting caliber small forward who's not quite an All star?
I'm actually not a pro tanker. I'm in favor of making moves that are the best to improve our chances at a championship.
If Kevin Love and Marc Gasol were free agents this offseason I'd be all for rebuilding and going after them.

Given the position we are in now with only Rondo and Green and no franchise players it would be simply stupid to not put ourselves in a position to grab one of at least 3 players who's ceiling is much higher than Green or Rondos will ever be at this point in their careers. A draft like this comes along once every 10 years with 3 players of that caliber.
The way to win titles is to draft a superstar. Every team to make the finals in the last 10 years got their through the leadership of a franchise player. You have to surround him with the right cast and we have that cast but no franchise guy. For every combo of Rondo and Green you need a Durant or Lebron to put them over the top. History proves this.

If you have a better idea as to how to construct a contender I'll gladly listen. At least have the balls to put your idea out in the open and open to all the haters or those that don't quite understand the luck, timing and patience it takes to build a contender. Add all those things to requirement number one...a franchise guy. 3 of them are staring us in the face When a normal draft would be lucky enough to have one.

Does anyone even know if Detroit can trade future first rounders?  I'm almost positive they can't move 2.  They still owe the Bobcats a pick from the Gordon trade..... just something to think about when suggesting we trade for draft picks..

I think getting Drummond is a great idea, and possibly great for both teams.

Just to shed some light on drummond, here are some of his stats, measurements, and athletic tests:
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Andre-Drummond-5772/stats/

If you compare him with other bigs he most resembles dwight howard. although howard being right out of hs and drummond after 1 and done.

Also, you will notice that out of all the bigs tested drummond has one of the highest standing vertical reaches in recent draft history, while also outweighing everyone else by 40lbs!http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements.php?year=All&sort2=DESC&draft=&pos=&source=All&sort=11

the biggest thing: Drummond only played 20 mins a game last season and played along a double double guy like Monroe. So in limited minutes, mostly playing along side a guy that does not make it easy to get easy rebounds; drummond did extremely well. He had more rebs and blocks than anyone on our team.

look at some of the numbers/stats for yourself. I'm not saying he is GOD or anything but he is interesting

Monroe is 3-4 years older than drummond
