I admit quitter is probably the wrong word. A quitter is like "I quit!" and goes home and sits on the coach.

Now a traitor. A traitor is different. A traitor does sneaky things like leaking stuff to Stephen Smith before he tells you. A traitor has a good situation and signs a big long contract, then starts looking around for a better situation. A traitor decides that rather than help you he's going to compete against you and decides to go public with unhappiness and puts you in a position where you basically have to fire him.

Realistically Doc wanted to get fired so he could get paid, then go and get paid somewhere else.

Now a classy traitor...they do things like get frustrated about Ray Allen leaving even though he was a free agent, but feels free to talk his way out of town when he just signed a contract.

But then on top of being a traitor he's so classy he has to act surprised that anyone calls him out. Whoooooo? Meeee? Well I woooouuulllddd call him an "idiot" but I'm too classy.

Yeah. Classy Doc. So classy.

although I consider him a quitter, but I have to say he handled it pretty well. More classier than Ray Allen imo.

He "said" he left on good terms with the Celtics, etc, etc...and no finger pointing...he praised the Celtics organization as well...therefore I think he handled it with class...

Ray Allen on the other hand who I looked up to and considered him the classiest guy on the Celtics before he left, actually left on bad terms...

he pointed fingers and blamed others for his production in which I thought was very low of him

Not classy not a traitor. Celtics org didn't mind having him back. But when he wasn't sure to comeback, they were happy to go to another direction (stevens).

You can't discount what he has done for the org, especially bring in a championship in 08, but he left a sour aftertaste when he left, bc he wasn't man enough to honor his contract and be with the team through thick and thin.

Oh the team doesn't have KG and PP , so i can't be here also.  It's weak and shows no leadership. He knows he can't help a team rebuilding get anywhere so he had to leave before it hurt his career.

Absolutely loaded question with bad options. He is probably a very classy guy who's situation upon leaving here wasn't handled well and so many will probably think less of him because of it.

But not handled well by who?  When he called himself classy was that a loaded statement on his part?  His only example of himself being classy was declining to call Simmons an idiot, which he did anyway.

To be perfectly honest I thought the classiest stuff Doc did was that he handled the kids thing pretty well. He balanced out duties to the Celts with duties to his kids. It was fun to watch him at his kid's games and he didn't get all weird about Austin coming into the league. He seemed to keep good parent/coach boundaries

I admit Doc's strategy of saying "Simmons doesn't know everything" is a far better response that the crying Ray did. But I find them both very booable

The answer should be, how the heck would any of us know?  No one here actually thinks they know Doc Rivers, right?  Have any of you met him? Had a conversation with him?

I don't know if the people in my life think I am classy, but those who could really judge would be the very few who know my actions over time.  That is because even classy people make mistakes.  We all have our good and bad moments, most of which on either side occur in the privacy of our homes and in the anonymity of our time with the people who are important to us.

I have no idea whether Doc is classy.   Seems like a pretty good guy though.

Thinking about what Mr. Rivers did this offseason:

1. Trying to lure Garnett to go with him to the clippers;

2. Asked Clippers management not to include bledsoe as trade filler to the proposed KG/Mr. Rivers trade, saying he would like to coach bledsoe, but eventually trading bledsoe;

3. Calling Bill Simmons an idiot (he is an idiot but he is our idiot) but saying that he is too classy for that (its like saying you are a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. but im too classy to say that - but you said it already);

4. Assumed to be Stephen Smith's source as to his eventual departure;

Now tell me is he still classy?
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

I'm been wanting this mediocre coach gone for many years. I'm so excited to have a real coach, I could care less.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.
