The Denver Nuggets have reached agreement on a three-year, $15 million deal with free agent J.J. Hickson, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Hickson should fire his agent.

12.7ppg and 10.4rpg in only 29mpg and he can't get more than $5 million?

This. Zaza Pachulia got a better deal than him.

Good signing, although with faried Koufos and McGee kinda a log jam. Who was their back up PF last year? thought Hickson wis a 22+ min a night guy, doesnt look like he will really get a a massive run there unless Nuggets are trying to trade some pieces out.

They just brought in Darrel Arthur to be their backup PF and he is exactly what they needed at that position with his defensive quickness + midrange and long two point jump-shooting.

Too many players. Not enough minutes.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Wow. He was good enough to command a Tiago Splitter contract...
I like Marcus Smart

Hickson can blame himself.  Last year he signed a 1-year deal for $4 million, and the Blazers still didn't want to keep him.  That can't be all on his agent.  I thought he'd get the mid-level, and that seems to be what he got.

Agree with Who on both points.

Should have commanded a lot more money considering what other centers in the league get.  Even centers who were previously backups getting very little playing time (Gortat, Asik) have signed for more money than that in free agency.

Confusing considering how little playing time he'll get in Denver's crowded front court.

Just a confusing all around signing.

It's not surprising.  Portland reportedly was willing to trade Hickson at the deadline if anyone would give up a first-round pick.

His lack of defense probably has something to do with it.  He seems to have picked up a reputation as a guy who would rather pad his rebounding stats than play defense.

Obviously no notable free agents are gone sing for Cs team this year. No DW12, No Josh Smith etc. I think we do not need to create fake illusions. No hopes at all. Especially after Josh Smith signed for Pistons this is more than clear.

I don't get it either.  His numbers are nice.  He is not THAT bad a defender.  He's only 24 and doesn't seem injury prone.  Really have no idea.  Maybe the teams know something we don't.  Poor teammate?  Red flags?
