I guess one would need to accept your premise that McHale purposefully acted against his team's best interest to consciously favor the Celtics over the Lakers.  The underlying presumption is that the Lakers had a better deal on the table but McHale's allegiance to the Celtics (rather than the Wolves), and/or his disdain for the Lakers, took precedence.

I don't buy the premise.

Oh, and all things being equal (as in, Lakers offered a deal that was deemed completely equal to the Celtics offer), most teams would opt to deal outside of their own conference.

Rondo won't fit in Houston's offense.

I think Houston's offense could adjust to the upgrade from Lin to Rondo.

Possibly but I don't see harden and rondo getting along. Harden has the ball in his hands a ridiculous amount of the time and Rondo needs it even more. Two ball dominant guards of Harden and Rondos caliber wouldn't work as well as some probably think. Especially now that Dwight is there to also demand touches.
Exactly. It'd be like LeBron and Wade, except Harden and Rondo wouldn't want to play off-ball. IF rondo could shoot 3s, it could work.

I think people forget that Harden can play really well off of the ball - his OKC years showed that he doesn't need the ball in his hands all of the time. Last year he had to have the ball in his hands by default due to the other playmakers being Lin and Beverley. Not exactly all-star caliber.

If you are talking Asik and Lin for Rondo, I thought they had to waive Lin; but maybe not.

Hope Danny is reaching out to him.

Problem is we would be a good team without Rondo; But not sure we can be a great team without Rondo.

What is Houston offering that is as good as Big Al + #1 + cap space + cheap role players?

If they said Parsons + Asik + #1 for Rondo + Sullinger, would you do it?

If you are talking Asik and Lin for Rondo they already waived Lin.

Hope Danny is reaching out to him.

pay him back - yes
paying him back at the expense for our best player - no

in business, you always have to think about yourself first, in 07 deal, they were rebuilding and got a lot of assets back in return for KG

now, if we give them Rondo, they better be giving us A LOT back and NO Asik and Lin isn't considered as assets

it would be like a few first rounders as well...

I think Brandon Jennings would be a better fit than rondo, there point shooting Point gaurd is what they need, somewhat like the heat have, James harden being the ball dominate ball handler and scorer, dwight the scorer and distributor from the post with 4 other 3 point threats around him= very tough team to beat.

No. --  too much to give up.  Maybe without Sully but Parsons would be behind Green & Wallace so as appealing as Parsons is, He's not filling a hole or weakness

Why do we need to pay him back for KG? What is there to repay for? We repaid him back when we sent back our end of the trade.

What is Boston offering that is as good as Kevin Garnett just past his prime?

No way, we repay McHale by anything than offering him a job someday.   You don't get their back later in a trade.  Houston has some nice assets like Chandler but you make the deal straight up not to repay Kevin.
