Purple = Own Draft Pick
Yellow = Traded as a Future Pick
Blue = Player
Gray = Signed as FA

The Red/Green boxes on the Right are Historical Trades.

Top row is the '04 playoff team

Bottom row is the '08 Title Team.

Notes:
-Lots of very key FAs for the title team.
-Rondo shows up twice...strange, huh!
-Antoine...
-I know we didn't really have him, but man, Pekovic.
-Doc dressed 15 players at various points in the playoffs. Even Pruitt.
-Is there ANY player that we all felt super hyped about but hadn't shown much that left or was traded that we really regret/miss?

Yes, the second rondo could have been blue because it was draft day for the known player. And money was involved as well as rudy fernandez.

There. Money for Rondo and Rondo the player, not an unknown pick that ended up being Rondo.

Also changed Jeff Green to Purple because he was the known player drafted by us then traded.

Alright, let's just do all that again. Problem solved.

Sure!

We draft a defensive center next year. Then in 2-3 years we've got Rondo at 30 in the role of '08 Pierce, hopefully another drafted up and comer playing the part of '08 Rondo. Green will be traded in the role of Wally Z; Gerald Wallace playing the part of Theo; those two along with picks will net us a couple disgruntled, not-on-the-upswing 31 year olds. Maybe Aldridge and Dwight?

Remember so many people wondering if it would be a good deal to get KG because he was so old and Al Jefferson had shown so much development? KG is STILL more valualbe than big Al. But that may actually change in the next 1-2 years.

But from this, I would probably conclude:

-Never gonna miss Melo.
-Never gonna miss Crawford.
-Green is 50/50. If his salary prevents adding a real impact player, that's bad, but he coud be in the role of Perk on an otherwise championship team.
-Unlikely Sully plays much more that the Powe role on a real team. But he could reach as high as the Rondo '08 role (solid starter)
-Same for Bradley.
-Putting all those together, Green/Sully/Bradley cannot all start on a truly good team. SO careful when their extensions come.

I kind of want to do one for Isiah Thomas and the Knicks. It would be full of things like this:

LaMarcus Aldridge ]
                  | ==> Eddy Curry
   Joakim  Noah   ]

BTW it's easier to read if you "open in new tab."

Wrong!   Green and Bradley could start on a good team both have at certain points in their careers.   I think we were a good team when Bradley replaced Ray.   I think Green played on some decent OKC teams.

I just think, considering how good our championship team was, and how good the recent title teams were, and looking at them 1-5, if we're taking up 2 starting spots with Green and Bradley we are trending much more toward "mediocre-good" than toward great, unless the 4/5 spots are Lebron and Marc Gasol or something (i.e. top 5 nba player and top 3 at their position/top 20 nba player). And if that's what you are adding to your 'core' to be a real title contender, your 'core' is not that impressive.

They can, if the rest of that starting lineup is Rondo and an All-Star caliber center.
