Would've made sense if they were trading for "in his prime" Steve Nash, but since they were trading for 39-year-old (I think) Steve Nash, it was a terrible risk.

It looked bad then. The folks who were crowning the Lakers the Kings of the West looked ridiculous then and they do now. No retrospect needed. The made their own situation more difficult for a small short window of about...oh...1 year.

I wanted them to keep Dwightmare so they would stay in the playoffs next couple years but get bounced quick because of aging core and lack of depth. Losing Dwight puts them in lottery line. I preferred they not be in that line.

It looked great for the Suns.  It looked even better for them when the Lakers almost missed the playoffs this year, which would've given them a second lottery pick.

So between the Nash and the Howard deals, the Lakers gave up firsts in 2013, 2015 and 2017 plus seconds in 2014 and 2015 I believe.

They will not be rebuilding through the draft, they will have to do it through FA.

I don't see more than 1 team (the Heat) that can realistically have a better record in the East than Brooklyn next season.

That pick is going to be in the 25-30 range.


All bets are off with the 2016 and 2018 picks though, and who knows how willing to spend Prokorov will be down the line if they win a championship with this group.
