Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and 2 first round picks got them Harden and a few other useful players. I don't think Houston or anyone else is going to trade 3 starters (albeit on a weak team) and 3 first round picks for Rondo and Bass.
Also agree that we don't need more picks. I think even just Lin, Asik, Chandler for Rondo and Bass is great for a rebuilding team. Bass will be useful to them but is really no value to the Celtics at this point. I view it as a plus for the Celtics that they take the salary along with Rondo.
I don't see that the rest of the league values Rondo quite the way posters here do. That became clear, at least to me, during the Chris Paul original trade talks. Rondo is good but flawed. He would be great for Houston right now I think but I also think they would move on to Smith well before considering giving up this much.
