The Hawks were mildly interesting for some of the 80s, that's about it, and it doesn't look like they'll be that interesting any time soon.

With the Millsap signing, I guess Josh Smith goes to Detroit.  Get ready for more Rondo to Detroit rumors!

I think the market is gonna dry up real fast for Josh Smith. The teams with space are using it up fast now and the trade market isn't that big either. Wonder what's gonna happen to him. Does he take a 1 year deal somewhere and then test free agency again next year?
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

That would make Monroe quite expendable with Smith/Drummond.....

Hmmm...

the Pistons have already said they see Smith as both a SF and PF, so he can play with both Monroe and Drummond

investing large amounts of money on Josh Smith would have been a mistake for us. Ainge did call about Howard though, but was shut down quickly.

I don't think that experiment will last long.

I like the odds of one of them becoming available in a trade down the road. Next summer.

I don't think this deal happens. For it to be around the 14-16 mm Smith will probably get on the open market Atlanta would have to take on both Asik and Lin. That is 16 mm for two more years on a rebuilding team.

Maybe they are able to find a third team to take on Asik and Lin for prospects but I doubt it.

In the end I bet Houston trades Asik to the Hornets for Ryan Anderson. Hopefully this paves the way for a first and humphries to Atlanta for Smith.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

For whatever it's worth:

As of now, Rockets have no deals in place and no plans for deals, source says.

Though they won't rule out post-Howard trades, the Rockets are now open to keeping Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin, league source says.

Interesting. Didn't Omer say he wasn't cool with sitting behind Howard? Must mean they're going to start him!

Haha. I have a feeling they'll be pieced out still. Is there any benefit to releasing such a statement? Maybe getting teams interested in them to increase an offer or something.

This has to be posturing/no one is willing to take Asik's contract on without giving up some salary on their own.

Hopefully this leaves Josh Smith with no one to sign him and he ends up in Boston for cheap.

From another perspective

a) we don't want him. Danny is not signing him even for 10 million per year. He isn't good enough to pair with Rondo and Green toward a championship.
b)Detroit will offer him big money. So would someone like Toronto or Dallas. Even the Lakers will be in play for him now.

Zero chance of Smith landing here, which is a good thing in the long run (in my opinion).
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
