New Orleans has shown strong interest in acquiring Rockets center Omer Asik, w/ an offer likely centered on Ryan Anderson, sources tell Y!

dumb, dumb trade for NO if true. They have Anthony Davis already, they could use Ryan Anderson more than Asik. I know they can play Davis at PF, but it just doesn't look like a good fit with Asik.

Houston needs a premiere stretch-4, not a Josh Smith, playing PF next to Dwight. Anderson already had enormous success playing alongside Dwight in Orlando, so it doesn't surprise me that Houston is expressing interest.

@hpantazo
The Pelicans have insisted on making Davis a PF. They think he can be their mini-Duncan in many ways. They just traded Robin Lopez, so who else is going to play center for them? Asik, next to Davis, would create a defensive nightmare for the opponent.

Don't know if Lin sticks around, but I like Ryan Anderson a lot next to D12. Don't know who their relationship was when they played together, but a stretch four is EXACTLY what D12 needs.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

I like this deal better for Houston than I do that S&T for Smith.

Calderon would be a great fit, he shoots the 3s at a high clip.

Win-win deal.

Ryan Anderson is very specifically tailored to play alongside Dwight, giving him tons of room to operate and spacing the floor. Harden / Anderson / Parsons is going to be a nightmare if you dare double team Howard.

On the flipside, I don't think most people acknowledge how good Asik is. Double-double guy with elite defense next to Anthony Davis? Nice. Good luck scoring in the paint against the Pelicans.

I don't like it for the Rockets.  Defense wins championships and Ryan Anderson does not play defense.

They're better off keeping Asik and his 11.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.  They could put up plenty of points just with Harden, Parsons and Lin, they don't need another shooter.  If they need scoring they can play Parsons at the 4 like hey did last year.

I'm sick of hearing how every team needs a "stretch 4".  The best teams in the playoffs (besides Miami) had two scoring bigs and the teams with the best bigs gave Miami fits (Indiana and S.A.).  Size and defense still wins in the playoffs.  If you don't have Lebron James you're probably not going to win at small ball.

I don't think you need a strong defender at the 4 when you have Howard. Magic were elite defensively with Bass there. Howard / Anderson / Parsons / Harden / Lin is not even remotely "small ball" just because Anderson plays the perimeter on offense.

I like it for both teams. Dwight needs a guy like Anderson to space the floor for him, and Davis isn't big enough to be a real center imo. He'd be better as a 4, and would make Hornets a defensive beast along with Asik.

Its been reported Asik doesn't want to play as a back up to D12 and I don't think its realistic to start them together, why risk a locker room issue when you're franchise is finally on the upswing?

And while Anderson is a stretch four, he's also a solid rebounder.  The fit of him and D12 just makes too much sense. Harden/Howard pick & roll and Harden/Anderson pick & pop would be a nightmare to defend.

Without Howard they were already one of the best scoring teams in the league.  They don't need scoring.  They would probably be the best defensive team in the league with Howard and Asik in the lineup together.  They would contest every interior shot and what one guy contests the other will be on the other side to rebound the miss.
Teams with two shot blockers make it much more difficult for guards to drive to the hoop.  Anyone who watched the C's with KG and Perk should know this.  Once we dropped to one shot blocker it became so much easier to score on us.
