yea Stevens is going to get fired by the all-star break.....

That's why the C's gave him a 6 year contract

That's funy. Beacause he signed 6 years contract, he can not be fired...Hmmm ...Terrific.;D ::)

He's not saying he CAN'T be fired but that the organization won't fire him at the allstar break. If he had to prove himself fit by that timeline the contract would have been much shorter. Who in their right mind gives someone a 6yr contract if they are going to judge whether they are good enough by allstar break?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I'm a huge fan of coach stevens, and I think he'll do well in the NBA. He won't have a winning record until we are nearing the end of our rebuild...because that's the nature of a rebuild. But I think we will be pleasantly surprised at how well he manages egos, minutes and the game plan.

I'm excited!

I've only been around these forums a few days, but I've learned to laugh off Mr. Eugene's pessimism. I like healthy skepticism, but you've got to view some things with an open mind, my man.

Also, TP to several people for your forum sigs...especially the Lee-Bradley pit bulls one and Tankapalooza (Crawford's face...hahaha...that's his actual roster photo too)

I'm sorry, is this quote for real or is this a joke? I'm gonna assume it's a joke.

Not only does Stevens have no NBA experience, he did well at a very small college and didn't have the pressure of heading a major program like. Better coaches have fared poorly in the NBA and I am feeling he willl be no different and seek a return to the college game in a few years.Boston has thrown in the towel. They have given up on even making the playoffs in next seasons.  They will finish just above the Raptors or Wizards in the east.

You are just the definition of positive thinking aren't ya?
Nothing pleases you. What a joke

What a joke to fake not facing the reality. This will be what I am going to call the “New version of Pitino Model.” The fact that the Celtics are now in full rebuilding mode means the losses are going to pile up, which means Stevens will ultimately get fired before All Star game. Full rebuilding mode needs a experienced coach, not a kid with zero professional experience.

Yeah he was in a small school, but he also had a high win percentage. He also took that small school into the finals two years in a row and almost beat Duke. Once could be considered a fluke, but twice?

People, and when I say people I mean experts and other coach's, not bloggers, have said he runs a smart team. They play, both ends and execute.

Just because he came from a college doesn't mean auto fail. At some point some one will succeed. Could it be Steven? Maybe, maybe not.

But he wont be fired by the all star break. They have a realty that they might have a tough season. They are going to develop their young players this year, and then see what happens with the draft. They didn't fire Doc after a couple season, and he had NBA coaching experience, so I think the leeway for Stevens to get his footing will be a little more than a couple months to couple years. I say by season 4 if they aren't progressing and or players don't respond then it will be over with.

From the conference he seems to be ready for this, knowing whats in front of him and it wont be easy. I mean the guy was watching video this mourning! The ink isn't even dry yet. He seems to have the right attitude(unlike some people) knowing there will be bumps in the road, but will get better from it.

You call this guy a kid, and yet Red was 32 when he took over as coach. Plus a "Kid" can handle the learning curve better, not being stuck in his own ways, but willing to learn like he has said to make the team better.

Before I toss him under the bus, Im going to see what he can do first.

I like the kid HC. I know he is a brilliant basketball mind. He understands this is a process. Seems to me that a poster in here wants a quick fix to getting a championship when there is no such animal.

I expect this rebuilding to be a process but it can be a fun one where early expectations get quickly exceeded.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Did any one else catch the " Up coming Changes to the roster" by Gotham?

Could easily be just cutting guys, but usually you don't say that unless people are moving.

But also could be trading for some better talent with the pics DA snagged.

And since id didn't come from DA, kinda makes you wonder though what might be in the works...

I think that Stevens and Mike Zarren will be an interesting combination, both being very strong analytics guys.

I think Brad Stevens is our money ball guy.  Analytics are the future.  From what I read about league wide guys and college coach peers, they think we got a bargain.

He got to 166 wins faster than Dean Smith, Rick Pitino, Bob Knight, John Calipari, John Wooden, Fogg Allen or Adolph Rupp.   Faster than anyone to ever have coached in DIV. 1 NCAA.   His plays to his strengths and his foes weaknesses not some gimmick system like Cal or Pitino.

Some of these posts are idiotic thinking that he had it easy at Butler.   Butler was easily the 3rd of 4th school in his state.   Indiana, Perdue are definitely ahead of him.   That means he got less talent.  Pitino and Cal are better recruiters but they would have never got near as program as small as Butler.   Pitino had en edge like once when he coached Providence.   Cal would never do it.  Both these guys are only as good as their players but they can get real good players.   Stevens took mediocre recruits to the title game, not once but twice.   He didn't have any top ten players, just hard working guys.  Mack and Heyward were probably the best he had.   Mack was a castoff who chose Butler after getting rejected from Kentucky and U of L.  Thinhg Stevens got these guys to play over their ability and that is the mark of a good coach.

This is our coach.   Rick Pitino ain't walking through that door.

Looks like Brad Stevens may be on ESPN shortly... I'm assuming but the ticker is leading me to believe this.

The Dwight Howard news might prevent him from coming up, we'll see.

Yes, it caught my ear and at first I had your same thought, then I realized he could be speaking of the PP, KG, and Jet trade.

You don't understand what's going on do you? They didn't hire Pitino. They hired Stevens.
You need a fact checker. Along with maybe an open mind.

Really loved the comment by Ainge when asked about college coaches transitioning to the NBA & the failures of the past.

Our GM flat out gets it.

I gotta say i love this hire. I think he will be a hell of a coach. We obviously need more talent around him but when he gets it, I think he could be one of the better coaches in the league.
