  • You say when......
Is he M L CARR...the FALL guy...or is he Erik sploestra......or is he just the real deal and DA likes him..?

Let's support him as now he is a CELTIC. Give him a chance before we rake him over the coals. doc got what he deserved. let's give this kid a chance. we may tank for 3 years running. that gives him plenty time to see if he can develop players.

you are right...my bad...vanity..i wanted to say it first....but on second thought..I hope h does very well for us, and he could be good....I DID ask..is he the real deal....meaning ..maybe he just is the right guy...Danny has made some very good calls...!!! I AM GLAD doc is gone....wish we kept KG and twill...!!!

Aren't you all kind of sick of the same group of 9-10 coaches getting fired and re-hired over and over again? How many teams did Lenny Wilkins coach that hovered around .500? Mo Cheeks utterly failed in Philly, yet there he will be on the sidelines again in Detroit next season. P.J. Carlesimo clearly lost the respect of his players, yet, as I recall, he got another head job. How many mid-level teams have Rick Adelman and Dwayne Casey coached? Flip Saunders anyone?

It takes a lot of balls to bring in a young coach like this, but - personally - I'm excited. ...I accept that we will be bad  (or at least not very good) next year; but with this hire, I am still genuinely excited about the season

TP

Exactly. Sometimes you can afford to take a risk, and this appears to be a risk worth taking. Gotta give some young blood a chance to shine.

So we ended up letting Doc go , getting a 1st rd pick for him , and pick up a great young coach that can develop talent . Love it!

agreed. player development is key here. even if we go 0-82 next year i will be watching my celtics young pups develop on NBA league pass!  ;D

Interesting hire.  We'll see if he has better success than most college-to-pros coaches.

The odds are stacked against him.

this is a new era of technology where we all have access to an amazing amount of statistics and the software to make use of it. Stevens reportedly is a stats guy who uses data to make predictions and adjusts his strategy accordingly. This is the basic foundation for science, and he's been extremely successful with it.

This is Ainge taking us into the next era of NBA coaching.

I've got a feeling he's going to have some old hands helping him out on the bench.

Great.  I am old enough to be the C's Head Coach's father.

That is truly depressing.

Well, most of them will be young, rookie NBA players so chances are good. I predict Stevens will befriend Rondo early on, sell him on his coaching strategy, and use him to help enforce things with the other players.

Wow.  Very interesting, especially that a guy who turned down a ton of major college program offers would jump to this.

Always a gamble with a college guy, but Stevens has been a very impressive, cerebral coach so far.  He can learn on the job in a year with low expectations.
