Free-agent forward Chase Budinger has reached agreement on a three-year, $16 million contract to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Budinger, a 6-foot-7 forward, returns to a strong core with the Wolves that includes Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. The third year of the deal will be a player option, a source said

Say whaaat? Am I underrating Budinger big time or is this contract as semi absurd as I think it is. Maybe 3 mil a year but not over 5. Does he really provide the Wolves with a strong core?

I think another team was willing to throw the full MLE at him. so this is a slight out-bid.

Well, for all the guys so eager in seeing Kevin Love in a Celtics uniform, this just dramatically increased those chances. It doesn't hurt that the Wolves are supposedly interested in signing Kevin Martin.

Lol. Minnesota.

I expect Budinger is going to start if Kirilenko doesn't return. With Shabazz as the main backup SF.

G - Rubio, Barea
G - Ridnour, Shved
F - Budinger, Shabazz
F - Love, D.Williams
C - Pekovic, Dieng

I have less of a problem with this signing than with the Wizards' offer of the exact same money (but one additional year) to Martell Webster.

Budinger at least projects to be a starter/log heavy minutes at SF, and provides the Wolves with some spacing. Rick Adelman is also a big fan of his.

"It's the Wizards" is a perfectly acceptable response.  I would also accept "LOL Wizards!"
