Splitter averaged 6.1 pts and 3.1 rebounds during the playoffs and only played 24.7 minutes a game in the regular season.  That got you 9 million a year for 4 years.

Gerald Wallace averaged 30 minutes a game during the regular season and got 12 pts and 4 boards per game during the playoffs.  He gets 10 million a year for 3 more years.

Mike

makes Jeff Green's contract a total steal

Splitter is a center comparing him to a SF is pretty idiotic when centers all ways get paid a premium.
Yes and no, salary cap space is fungible between positions even if big men are scarce.

Of course before you heap scorn on someone you probably should consider the entire quote he was replying to, as there was a SF/PF that was also listed. Meaning the Jeff Green comparison was certainly apt.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
Splitter is a solid player.  He looked bad against Miami, but he had played very well against Memphis and he and Duncan were great during the regular season.

Maybe this will look like Mike Conley's contract (5 yrs/$45 million) in a few years.  People scoff at it now, but Splitter could turn out to be a very good player for the Spurs.
