I don't see how miami woyld ever be the front runner unless

-Oden doesn't care about playing
-Just wants a ring
-Doesn't want money
-doesn't care about being an after thought on the team
- Being one of the least important players on the team.

Miami or other title contenders make zeron sense. He needs to have coaches and trainers who can spend all their time and effort on him after him not playig in 3 years.

He needs a no pressure situation.

He needs a place where he can play as many or few minutss as possible.

He needs a place where he has more of a voice and can dictate what he wants.

I don't see hoe Miami or another title contender can attract Oden when their  main goal is winning a championship, not catering to Odens needs
Why wouldn't Oden play? They don't have a decent Center. Joel Anthony? Birdman?

Oden would be very significant as the starting center. If Oden is healthy, he will start in Miami. If he isn't healthy, Miami is unquestionably the more entertaining team to watch from the bench in a suit.

I don't see Oden starting in Miami even if he is healthy. He'd be playing the Birdman role, as the Heat work best with Bosh and LeBron at the four and five (with Shane Battier guarding the four on D).
Even if Oden doesn't start in Miami he would still have plenty of minutes available to play.  In addition, when you join the 2 time defending champion, there is absolutely no pressure on you to start and play huge minutes.  If he goes there for a year or two and plays well, he can then re-sign for big dollars and be the focal point as Wade, Bosh, and James all age.

Miami makes a lot of sense for him.  I think he ends up in Indianapolis or Cleveland, but I would put Miami a close third.

Think we're in a good position to roll the dice on him, don't see why you wouldn't. I agree that it's unlikely he'll be healthy but during a 'bridge period' isn't this the type of short term deal you absolutely take?

He could start for us if in shape and healthy.  Guy I'd love to see make it back with us or any other team.  A center rotation of him and olynyk would be nice.  Neither would have pressure and could slowly get into roles.
Oden is still young and a force when healthy.

THINK BILL WALTON REBIRTH WITH BOSTON!!!

Makes sense for tha C's to be interested. KG is heading to Crooklyn and tha C's don't have a starting center despite having 3 7 footers. I would like for Danny to sign Oden. I know his health is in question but with tha C's fresh into rebuilding, I kind of see it as a low risk high reward type of thing. He would have room to work his way back into tha game. Oden can be dominant when healthy.

I don't know how Miami has money to keep signing players but Oden should come cheap for anyone. Cleveland still has Varejao, and Indy still has Hibbert and Mahinmi(who's a solid back up). Oden has room to work back into form under any team listed as interested but I think with Boston fresh into rebuilding not only do I think they have more need for Oden than Indy, Cleveland, and Miami, I think it would make tha most sense for Oden. But I may be wrong.

Hope Danny can pick him up tho.

Miami's least priority will be rehabbing a very high profile center who hasn't played in 3 years. They can say whatever they want to him but fact of the matter is he's only going to play if he's doing well. They want to win games and win championships.

They're not just going to throw him out there and let him play 20 minutes a game if he's doing terrible.

I guess my point is that he could end up on Indy or Miami but for his basketball career I don't think it would suot him best.

Best case scenario for him is a place where he has the most control and attention and he's not getting that with a title contending team.

Is Oden worried about next year or his entire career?

People are acting like Oden is some old veteran ring chasing which he may be ring chasing but indont see how anyone would actually think that is the best move for his career at 20 however old he is

Miami makes zero sense unless he's trying to cash in on a championship in the next 2 years. If he's looking to get his career back on track I think more non title contending teams make the most sense.

I wouldn't be surprised if he chose miami but sont think it would be the right choice

Even if he is healthy, I don't think Oden is a fit with our roster.

We're built to be a running team right now.  Oden is an old man and should play for a team that walks the ball up the court and grinds out possessions.

On offense he might not be a good fit but on defense I think he is. If we brought him in, he would be the only rim protector on the team. He could defend the back line, block shots, get rebounds and throw outlet passes so Rondo, Green and Bradley can get out and run.

This is going to be a moot point, a ton of teams are interested in him. If there is a bidding war we will lose because we are already close to luxury tax land.

I could see him potentially signing with us if we guarantee him a starting spot, but even then he probably doesn't want that kind of pressure/minutes for a guy that is always injured.

Oden is 25. He still has the chance to land a big deal down the road. I doubt he wants big minutes right away. I would imagine he wants to ease back into it and Miami gives him that chance. If he can show he is back by the playoffs, he can land a big deal somewhere else. Hope Im wrong, Miami just seems like the perfect for him

Oden gets his career on track in a place where he doesn't have to play 35 minutes and be the focal point.  A place like Miami or Indiana where he would only need to play 15-20 minutes and would never be the focal point is exactly what Oden needs.  His talent has always been there, his problem is injuries, and you don't sign some place to be the man and play 35 minutes until you can  stay healthy.  Going to Miami is perfect for him.  He can play 15-20 minutes off the bench, won't need to score, won't be pounded on, etc. Exactly the situation he needs to ease back into playing.

Starting lineup:
Rondo
Bradley
Green
Sullinger
Oden

Backups:
Bass (hopefully traded)
Lee
Olynyk
Wallace
Hump (like it or not he's a good rebounder)

Oden and Sully and Oden and Olynyk could both be nice combos. Trying to create something new with some good young players here might hold some appeal. Jumping to the Heat to title chase and be LeBron's puppy dog a form the super team would be lame. Trying to establish his own deal would be a great deal more rewarding.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I would like to sign him just for his potential alone. Sure his knees are that of a a 47 year old but it does not have a lot of mileage, you still never know.

I'm not sure how much we can offer? MLE maybe? If so then I'll offer him that full MLE, 2 years, with the 2nd year a team option.

If he asks "Why only two years?" we tell him "Look, we want you here long term and we can pay you more than this, but right now we want to make sure you can stay on the court first.".
