The Clippers and Mavericks are reportedly discussing sign-and-trade scenarios which would send O.J. Mayo to L.A. in exchange for Eric Bledsoe.

Awww jeez, that is even worse value than Redick.

Why would you want OJ Mayo and Jamal Crawford on the same team???

So am I right in assuming that Mayo didn't want to stay in Dallas either way since he didn't exercise his option?  Or was he still considering staying with dallas?

Does everyone think that bledsoe is a better option than Mayo?  Seems like a net zero move for dallas unless Mayo was gone anyways.

You should assume that Mayo wants a raise and a longer-term deal.  The Mavs seem likely to renounce him to make room for a big free agent.  If they did want him back, it probably means they whiffed on free agents and they would probably want to give him short-term money so they had cap space again next summer.

So look at this:

PG: Chris Paul / Eric Bledsoe / Chauncey Billips / Maalik Wayns

SF: Caron Butler / Matt Barnes / Grant Hill / DaJuan Summers

SG: Jamal Crawford / Willie Green

Grant Hill just retired, too.  So now they will have just Matt Barnes and DaJuan Summers at the 3 in order to strengthen their SG spot?  And neither CP3 nor Chauncey can handle a ton of minutes anymore (CP3 - 33, Chauncey - 19 last season), so if one of them goes down, the other one will just wear out.

And if this trade doesn't happen, then Bledsoe will destroy their cap or he will just walk for nothing.  This is perfect for the Celtics 2015 pick!
