Look at Philadelphia.

They traded a 23 year old point guard for:

1. A defensive first, offensive second rookie big man who won't return until mid season.

2 A 2014 lottery pick.

They will also probably let Bynum walk.

THIS team was the number 9 seed last year. Finishing 14 GAMES under .500.

I feel I am optimistic in say I think we could end up with a top ten pick next year. But we are not what tanking looks like.

Smart move by Philly IMO.

I'd be shocked if they don't finish with a pathetic record and get a good player (or two) in next year's draft.

Why be mediocre (at best) with all the risk of lengthy contracts when you can get a good player on the cheap next year and have the potential to be a great team?

Wait a couple weeks when we trade Rondo.  Gotta wait for the first trade to become official, the free agent landscape to settle down a bit more and then Danny will pull the trigger and level this thing down to the ground.

You've turned into the most entertaining poster on these boards for me. Keep up the hard work.

Yeah, once things got quiet after draft night. It became clear to me that we won't hear anything until after the 10th.

We have a long way to go though before we should be accusing DA of tanking. If anything, by acquiring 4 first round draft picks in the past week. He has given himself the opportunity to say, "hey i will have multiple mid-first rounders almost every year until 2019, if I build this team up next offseason and put them in a position to make the playoffs we might be able to avoid getting stuck in perennial first-round exit purgatory."

He let me take his time thrust machine for a spin.   We aren't moving Rondo until the KG/Pierce trade becomes official... we want to try to dump Wallace with him.

I can not see Danny trading Rondo when his value is so low. It just does not make sense.

Why not wait until you can get more value?

Most reliable guy this side of Woj.

Looking at the eastern conference right now. We should be rooting for:

1. The bucks to get bledsoe and keep jennings.

2. The pistons to get Josh Smith and Jeremy Lin.

3. The Hawks to get an Iguodala/Ellis/Evans type.

4. The wizards young core to develop quickly.

5. The cavs to try and keep Kyrie Irving happy.

6. The raptors to build around Rudy Gay and become the grizzlies-east.

A few teams will realize this offseason that these aren't the right decisions for their franchise. I think the cavs, hawks and pistons are the most like 6, 7 and 8 seeds if Boston isn't one of them. (The clear top 5 is NYK, BKN, MIA, IND and CHI)

I think he just has the fervent belief that the more often he says something, the more likely it is to become true.
