On Rondo: I agree.  These are the times we live in.  One "source" form some reporter says you are disgruntled in some way and that's the narrative.  Who knows who the "source" is or their motives.
You realize these here are direct quotes from Danny Ainge's presser, right?

Yes but I'm speaking to the way this all works in the media now.

And if you remember, the original "sources" information on Rondo was that he didn't want to be part of a rebuild, not just that he wants FA help.

The Rondo thing is kind of amusing, though unsurprising.

I can imagine Rondo being a little bit excited about Pierce and KG leaving, initially thinking, alright yeah, this is my team now.  Let's get some of my friends on board!  Then he talks to Danny and realizes that no help is coming, and it's just him and Jeff and Avery and a bunch of flotsam for the next year or two.
It's also a bit unsettling. I guess expecting professional attitude from the team's marquee athlete is just unheard of. And by professional, I mean: I'm under contract, I'm a marquee player, I'll be all-in and not create a distraction regardless of who else is on the roster.

Well, I guess it's too much to expect for everyone to be Kevin Garnett.

Are you complaining about what Rondo actually said, or just what some random poster imagined he might say? Because I don't think hoping your GM signs a few new players qualifies as "unprofessional".

Is there any evidence whatsoever that Rajon Rondo isn't conducting himself with a professional attitude right now?

Is there EVER any evidence whatsoever behind Rondo trashtalking? Rondo is a "bad teammate". Rondo is a "bad locker room guy". Rondo "is the reason" Ray Allen left. Rondo "is the reason" Doc Rivers left. The Ray Allen story is the only one that might have some legs to it, but even then, considering how Allen treated that whole offseason like a drama queen, I'd give Rondo the benefit of the doubt and side with him. It seems like the media simply targets Rondo because he doesn't exactly have the best temperament towards them.

Well I love KG too, but who's to say a younger KG didn't get in McHale's ear every off season asking for more help?
If no-one ever heard about it, it pretty much didn't happen, and you certainly couldn't  tell by the way Garnett was playing.

Also, there's a distinct difference between asking for help, and asking to sign FAs who clearly aren't feasible.

If you are going to claim the whole, if no one heard about it, then it didn't happen, then where does it say in the quote that Rondo was being 'unprofessional'.  Sorry you can't have it both ways.

How does every thread end up becoming about Rondo? There are like 10 tweets here...

Because people take stuff out of context and make up their own stories to support their views.

My question is, how did Rondo asking Ainge to sign FA's turn into a review of his character?? That makes NO sense. And where did it say he was disgruntled (from Ainge and not some reporter)? Stop interjecting your own feelings and portraying them to be Rondo's. He has a right to see where this team is going..HE'S the one playing on the team and if he doesn't like the direction than Ainge can decide accordingly.

I swear some want to find things to harp on about Rondo, but if it was CP3 asking about FA's, in this situation, he's looking out for the team and being a leader.

As the "random poster" who put forth my imagined scenario of what Rondo may have said, I want to be clear that I'm not attempting to try Rondo for comments that I only imagined that he may have made to Danny Ainge.

I really just found that part of the presser amusing.  I do think Rondo has a lot to prove, but as far as we know officially he hasn't done or said anything untoward yet.

Because people take stuff out of context and make up their own stories to support their views.

I mean, either we talk about Rondo or we engage in more fruitless debates about whether we ought to tank and "rebuild" or instead "retool."

The fact is there's not a whole lot to talk about right now, especially compared to what we're used to in early July based on the past few years.

Not much exciting is going to happen with the Celtics for a while.

You gotta give Danny credit for coming up with lines like that and delivering them without cracking a smile.

True, it is going to be a lot of pure speculation threads for a while.  I would say that the Rondo debates are pretty fruitless as well.

I for one believe that DA says what he needs to say as a GM.  It certainly isn't always 100% the truth.  Sometimes the things he says are meant for other teams, and sometimes they are meant for the media, and once in a while they are meant for the C's.
He is a business man, and has a poker face.  At least we still have a GM who knows how to bluff!

This from the same guy whose interview on June 27th led the Herald to write "Ainge: No Big Moves Planned":

Quote
Ainge might be playing his cards close to the vest, but even after confirming the Celtics have been involved in some interesting discussions with other clubs, he isn’t expecting to make any big splashes tonight with a deal that could include some players already under contract...

...“I don’t see it,” he said. “We’ve been working hard and been looking at all sorts of things over the last few weeks. We’re not close to anything like that yet, so I don’t know. I don’t sense that we will or that there’s a possibility.”

Yup, that's our GM. Wouldn't trade him for anyone. (Except maybe Buford).

And his coach of the last seven years just set such a good example for him.
