The Detroit Pistons are meeting with Josh Smith tonight, as @WojYahooNBA tweeted. The Boston Celtics are also expected to pursue Smith.

Now that he has had his meeting with Detroit. Looks like the Celtics will have their chance to talk with Josh Smith. What i am hoping comes of this is a good sign and trade deal that would become a three way with the Nets.

Why is it that people don't wont Josh here? I think he would be an excellent player next to Rondo. Also it keeps Rondo happy. And has the chance to get other stars here.

I'd love Josh Smith in Boston, but if we are rebuilding then I rather not have him. He is trying to get a max contract in which I don't think we should give him. We will become a mediocre team with Josh Smith. Though it will be fun to watch him and Jeff Green catching alley-oops from Rondo. But I want a championship and I don't think adding Josh Smith and have him play along side with JG and Rondo will make that happen. Therefore, no thanks

Hopefully, we can convince Smith to come to Boston within the next few days, therefore giving us an opportunity to at least talk to Dwight.

Get Rondo and Smith in Howard's ear, and convince him to force the Lakers hand.  Boston could offer LA at minimium 4 1st round picks.

I'd salivate over Howard/Smith/Rondo core.

I'm not interested in committing to being middle of the road.  Hence, not interested in Josh Smith.

I was going to put this in my post but held back! YES! That would be my dream! Would love to have those two saying listen we could right up there with the best in the east. While in the West you have to still go up against the Spurs, OKC, Memphis, Denver, and Golden State. All with pretty decent Centers. Here you would have to go against Indiana's Roy Hibbert.. And thats really it for tough centers in the east.

So hopefully our pipe dream comes true.

if possible I would do it, but Howard and Josh both tries to command max contracts. I don't think we have enough assets to net us both

What salaries do you expect to match with the prospective contracts of sign Josh Smith and Dwight Howard?

Do you think the Lakers would be interested in assuming them for two draft picks?

Well we would have to convince them that "Listen if you wanna play together you both have to take a little less money" So lets hope and pray that we land Smith today, and Dwight tomorrow lol.

I'll admit, it's mostly a pipe-dream of mine.  But I'd rather dream about that than the thought of tanking.

I posted this in another thread a few days ago.  It's highly unlikely, but maybe if Howard tells LA "I'll leave for Houston and you'll get nothing", it might work (probably not).  It'd require re-working our deal with Brooklyn, however.

This trade would work under the CBA (provided the tax apron goes up a few million for 2013/14).

Boston
Howard-$20,153,178
Humphries-$12,000,000
Wallace-$10,105,855

Lakers
Bass-$6,450,000
Crawford-$2,162,419
Sullinger-$1.365,720
Teletovic-$3,229,050
Brooks-$1,210,080
Draft right's to Olynk
2014 1st-Bos
2014 1st-BKN
2016 1st-BKN
2018 1st-BKN

Brooklyn
Pierce-$15,333,334
Garnett-$12,433,735
Terry-$5,225,000

A subsequent deal could then be made with Atlanta in which Smith was acquired through a S&T for Humphries, Bradley & the better of our 2015 1st or the Clippers 2015 1st.

No offense - but Howard Smith Rondo is a ridiculously bad idea. Who hits free throws of that core? None of these guys are crunch time guys. Pick one of the three.

Free throw shooting matters that much.

just ask the Spurs how that felt...and Howard, Rondo and Smith's free throws < Ginobli and Leonard's free throws..

meaning tons of heart attacks come to a game down to the line

I don't want to get into it a ton but if another team needs to put you on the line that much yiure probably doing pretty well.

He is trying to get a max contract

So a max contract? Better Howard than
