Well, that just makes me sad that Pierce is gone and playing for another team.

I mean, I want to be sad about this, but I'm too flabbergasted that Antoine is 5th in steals and WALTAH is 5th in all time 3s made.

Anyone else chuckle at Antoine being 2nd in 3 pointers?

He's probably a top 5 Celtic.

Pierce is among tha greatest Celtics. Looking at those rankings makes it sad because he still could have moved up in some of those rankings. I hate that our Captain is gone. It sucks his last game won't be in a Celtics uniform. For everything he's been through with this team and never once turned his back when he could have left, he earned and deserved to correctly retire and play his last game as a Celtic.

Thank you Paul for everything. You'll always and forever be a Celtic.

He's a Celtic til next Wednesday!  :-\

It's a shame to see things end like this for Pierce, but on the other hand I wouldn't want to force him to play out his last years on a team with no chance of contending.  It's Russell + Bird, and then Pierce is right in that next group somewhere.  A true Celtic great.

Can you imagine the emotion and adrenaline pumping through their veins first game back at the garden?

Heck I say they miss shots on purpose based on the color of their blood and love for the franchise.

Yeah, some real surprises:  Ray Allen #3 in 3-pointers in only 5 years.  Larry Bird only 649 3s in his career.  Great that Paul leaves as the #1 3-point guy (by far) and the #1 steals guy.  Also #2 in points is pretty impressive -- needed 2 more seasons to catch Hondo.

But I don't feel all that sad.  Paul is going to a pretty good situation in Brooklyn.  Since he and KG aren't on the Lakers and the C's are likely rebuilding over the remainder of their careers, it will be nice to root for them and wish them well.
And hopefully they are retired by 2016-17 so that we can switch with NJ to get their lottery pick in 2017, and then get another from them in 2018.

What an amazing career by the Truth!

Pierce suggested that if he played somewhere else he'd still like to come back for at least one game and suit up for the C's just so he could retire as a Celtic.

TP ACF,

Thanks for posting those stats.  For some reason, the one that kills me the most is the total games played as a Celtic.  He's four games behind Parish for second behind only Havlicek.  I really wanted him to get that spot.

I've been too busy thinking about what's next to really mourn, but somehow this post, and the link to the records, choked me up a little bit.

Gonna miss you, Paul.

One of the greatest.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

He should and deserves it.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

but he will retire as a celtic. they will bring him back for one day. they will honor him. they will acknowledge him. they will retire his number.

in terms of greatest celtics ever, i think pierce is in the top 6. which means he is in incredible company.

thanks paul for all you gave us.

Thanks, I just had it changed today.  Seemed appropriate.
