Taking a look at Boston's trade pieces. How patient will Danny be?

This opening post was written by somebody else but basically says everything I want to...

Now, with Doc, Pierce and Garnett on their way out.. the team has already started to amass a heap of trade chips, but how.. and when do you think he plays his hand?

Many of us thought that maybe this was an attempt to blow everything up and tank for the top pick in the 2014 draft, that this could be a long road back to the top... but already looking at what we have as positive trade chips, it's quite extensive

Draft Picks: 2 first round picks in 2014, 15, 16 and 18, as well as the right to swap picks in 17. On top of second rounders

Rookie scale deals/cheap young players: Sullinger, Olynyk, Bradley, Melo, Brooks, Joseph.. potentially Iverson, Jones or Pressey

Great players on reasonable money: Rondo and Green

Expiring deal: Kris Humphries (roughly $10mil)

Other vets/filler: Lee, Bass, Wallace (negative value)

What I'm getting at, is right now.. Danny has the chips to make a couple of huge deals if he wanted to, or he could tank, keep building and look to compete again down the line..

What do you think Danny does?

My guess is he'll go with awfully young (and awful) this year, but try to quickly pull it all together to be competitive, but still learning, next year.

He's got one year to build and showcase the assets he has, while also getting a good pick in 2014 and maybe work off some salary if he has to.

But he wouldn't be so eager to dump contracts if he weren't planning a quick recovery.

What contracts has he been so eager to dump? The only thing he has done so far is trade old and/or unproductive/overvalued assets. Nothing more, and saving 7 million in the process... he also got saddled with the worst contract of the trade himself so that doesn't really jive with he salary dump idea some of you are coming up with.

I think Danny explores every angle, including sign and trades for established free agents. To me this team is currently in the 7-10 seed range in the east. They will look at trades to get better now but also look at trades to to receive future pieces for their assets and be good in a few years.

He'll have to make one or two small moves over the next few months just to  get the roster down. But you can bundle a couple players for one, or for money.

If he makes a move this summer its for a big FA. He has pics that will sweeten a Bass or Wallace a little more now. Which is really smart.

But if not, he's going to wait till some one wants out near trade deadline, like maybe a DMC. A future pick will be worth a lot more than what some others may give for him in a straight up trade.

First time since '07 DA has some really good options. And were Wallace has the hardest contract to move they aren't really that bad. He can use Wallace for either trade to a team that needs to hit a certain amount so they don't get taxed too high, or for a play off team that needs a swing 3/4 for the final push.

What we should all know by now is Danny Ainge is a gambler.  With that knowledge in hand I think you can assume nothing, or anything is possible.

He's got chips. He is going to play them.  He will play them tomorrow if the right deal(in his mind) is there.  He will hold them if he doesn't like the potential return at this time.  Standing pat is not in his nature so eventually he is going to play the chips he has accumulated.  Tomorrow, the trading dead line, next off season?  Nobody but Ainge and his potential trade partners really knows.

I wouldn't tune out and concentrate on MLB and NFL until the season begins in November. You're likely to miss something.

Danny is a gambler but he isn't a stupid gambler. There's no way in his right mind that he'll buy into a rebuilding plan based around the next 4-5 drafts. I think he makes his big splash sooner rather than later, and will turn us back into a contender in a few years.
