Whether we can get right back in the mix next season depends on RR.

The NBA is a star driven league, therefore to be in contention you need a superstar on your team. This was the benefit we derived form KG PP and RA the last five years. These players were all legitimate superstars.

I have posted in the past that it was important to pass the baton to RR and establish him as a superstar. He started on that path but has been sidetracked by this injury.

If he can come back quickly from the injury and establish himself in the upper echelon of NBA players ranking then Celtics will not be down for long. This will attract TV and TV will attract Free agents and bang you have a winner.

We already have great complimentary pieces in Green Sully Bradley - if Rondo can attain legitimate superstar status he will attract other superstars and BANG we are back.

If Rondo does not become a top tier player -- the road may not be as fast to competing for a chip

My guess is that he'll play the second half of the season.

After the usual five-to-ten excuse ready rounding into shape games, that's about twenty five games for him to assert his superstar status.

I will wait comfortably to be awed.

Rondo absolutely becomes a superstar in the postseason. Unfortunately, he can't sustain that level of play during the regular season, where record determines seeding.

I absolutely think it's possible to build forward around Rondo, but I don't think we should treat him as THE man.

we obviously have a problem then, we need someone to be THE MAN to bring in more MEN.

When you have an exceptional talent, a considered top 5 in his position and his resume speaks for himself, and he's still in his prime and would still be for possibly the next 5 years, you include him in the plan moving forward.

I strongly believe (just like DA stated) Rondo will start the training camp.  He is that type of a competitor.  He was already putting up shots at the end of the season.

He is the only true Celtics that's left.  Mr. Triple Double, the best pointguard in the league, an allstar, and a superstar at his prime.  Why would we even contemplate trading him.

He is the captain now and he has assumed leadership for couple years now.  I would really like to see how he leads the team without KG, PP, and Doc around

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would
be a step down. I am pure 100 percent Celtic. I think if you slashed my wrists, my
blood would’ve been green.  -  Bill "Greatest of All Time" Russell

no he is not, he is too smart to only showed up in big games and choose to suck/pad states in regular season
that is his nature personality to only show up when it matters
so now as we are going to tank for Wiggins/Parker, it doesn't matter if he starts play that early(in fact he better sit out)

There's another reason RONDO WON'T BE TRADED. He is the only legit marquis player on the team and now (I think) the only NBA champion. This is still a business and the team needs to sell tickets. Rondo (and maybe Green) will be the headliners, their images splattered on celtics.com and billboards. This is going to be especially important this upcoming season with KG & PP gone.

Yup.

I'm not entirely opposed to trading Rondo for a young/high upside guy like Cousins or Monroe (just examples).

However, I guarantee teams are smelling blood and taking turns low balling the crap out if Danny. (Go take a look at www.realgm.com and see what opposing fans think is Rondo's value. It's pathetic.)

I just pray Danny at the very least lets Rondo come back, drop a couple triple doubles, and reminds everybody he is an elite talent.

Rondo or no Rondo, if this is a tank job, tickets will not be sold.
