Whats ppls opinion?

Just read an article where ml carr talked about that he was instructed to tank on purpose yr 1993-1995 by gaston. He would bench players that were doing good, guys were injured bc they over practiced etc.

Call me disgusted reading this. What player good or bad wants to play like this?

Do people think that danny also tried this strategy in 07? If so I might as well not watch a game this year then.

At the time it was known that Pierce could've came back from injury sooner, but since they had nothing to play for they held him back.

Where was that ML Carr article located?  I wouldn't mind checking that out.

Yeah i can understand things like holding back guys from coming back from injury as planned. But taking guys out in the 4th quarter bc they are playing well is ludicrous. Over working them in practice is ludicrous. What else, no hot water?

Its almost like the movie "major league" come true to real life

They didn't start out that way, but after all the injuries they went whole hog.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I see. Well at least still its not like gaston. Im glad the nba has the lotto in place to try to prevent this kind of crap.

Im not against not bringing guys as planned from injuries or trading key players for the future. This is how management can try to tank it. But dont try to lose on the court. Thats all i ask

Yup, they clearly kept playing telfair and their worst rotation players trying to lose games.

Once we were locked into the second most ping pong balls we stopped doing that for the most part.

Yeah I agree that a team intentionally tanking is definitely disgusting both from a fan's perspective and even a business perspective.

If I am rooting for a team, I want my team to constantly be competitive. I could care less if the second coming of Wilt Chamberlain was entering next year's draft, I want to see my team win.

I almost wouldn't mind if the NBA starts doing a little investigating and starts penalizing teams if they gather enough evidence that someone is tanking.

I just don't think there's any room for that in competitive sports.

A little of both is the answer.   We were bad and we were tanking.

Yeah, I think they were starting to play well with PP/Al/TA and bringing Rondo along but PP had the stress fracture, TA blew out his knee and the Celts went on a long losing streak without them.

Doc has said the Celtics were taking Oden, Wyc has suggested that Danny would have taken Durant.  I don't think Danny has commented.

Danny would of been delighted to get either Oden or Durant that year.  Who knew Odens career would of been cut short like it was. If Oden wasn't injured, i'm sure he would be a top center in the league right now. The height, wingspan, strength were all elite and he was just beginning to develop some nice offensive moves.

At least we still won a championship out of it all and Durant is still seeking his 1st one.

What is mindblogging to think about right now is the number of picks Danny has in the next few years.  It might be a signal to any players on the roster that their jobs are not safe and there is little to not patience. We do bad this year , get lucky to get Wiggins and Green might be gone the next second etc.
