Just though I would share a nice clip I watched on M. Brooks.  I like everything he said in this clip...seems to have a great attitude.  I've also read he is very excited to be on the C's and thinks its a change for him to prove himself.

SG going to be a battle position on our struggling team:

Bradley (D) > Brooks (O) > Lee (D + O)

TP Nice. Watched him at PC - great kid. Needs more defensive intensity.

Forgot Crawford.

PG) Rondo, Bradley, Pressey, Williams
SG) Brooks, Crawford, Lee, Bogans

brooks scores no doubt, but he does so inefficiently and bring little else to the team.

brooks will battle for starter position only if the celtics do not value defense. brooks is a pretty poor defender. given what the celtics fans are used to seeing on defense, i predict a lot of eye rolling and yelling when they see his matador defense.

he also is almost crawford-esque with his desire to take shots that are not the wisest shots - volume over quality is currently part of his game.

by the way, he only shoots about 30% for 3 pointers. 30% means that ALL BUT 3 TEAMS in the nba last year made a higher percentage of 3 pointers than brooks did as an individual. and as an individual, his percentage ranks near the absolute bottom among players.

his assist to turnover ratio is also poor, being almost 1:1 (1.6:1.4)

for the next year or two i imagine he will get plenty of chances off the bench to score and hopefully develop other parts of his game.

i hope he turns out to be a great player and the celtics get a steal. but so far he is as predicted...a volume shooter who brings little else with him.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Brooks looks great in highlight reels because he's a gifted scorer.

Problem is, he doesn't space the floor and he doesn't add anything else . . . not a good defender, rebounder, passer etc.

Players who do nothing but put the ball in the basket need to be incredibly efficient to be useful.  Generally speaking you're better off giving minutes to guys who impact the game in a bunch of areas over guys who just score . . . e.g. you'd rather have Kawhi Leonard than O.J. Mayo.

I agree with the previous posts...shot selection and D seem to be an issue...I do think there is a difference between Brooks and Crawford though...you can see that Brooks at least understands his role and thinks about improve himself from the clip...Crawford is a head case that will throw up anything.

Lotta upside for Brooks still. Definitely one of the Brooklyn pieces I wanna keep moving forward. Haven't really cared for this tanking talk, IMO we're still way too good with whose have to be a bottom feeder ecf team a la the bobcats, wizards, raptors, magic, etc

A note on the Wizards -- they were basically a .500 team once John Wall came back last year.

The Raptors also won 29 games, and probably stand to be at least a little bit improved this season.  I'd expect them to be in the hunt for the 8th seed for a decent part of the season.

I think the Bobcats, Magic, and Sixers are the only teams we can truly count on being worse than us, as things stand.

Oh believe me, the Wiz were my dark horse eighth seed last year prior to Wall being injured and Beal dealing with minor injuries. But as the Bucks showed, almost anyone can take the eighth seed. After all, the celtics crawled into the seventh spot with aging stars. Lets just say I'll roll the dice with young legs and gunners this year led by Rondo and Green compared to the Wiz led by Wall and the Raptors lead by Gay anddddd...well just Gay seeing their next best player is who, DeRoza??
