To my fellow Boston Celtic fans .
Just a few words about Paul Pierce.
I've followed the team for over 50 years now -- Yes I'm an old Edited for profanity.  Please do not do it again. !

From Cousy, Heinsohn, Satch ,the great Bill Russell and my favorite player Sam Jones.
Hondo , Cowens ,JoJo , Bird ,Parish and on to this latest championship group .We've had 4 different generations of success.
I'll admit to not caring for Pierces game and demeanor early on .
I recognize that part of this is a generational thing but that trash talking isolation stuff at the end of games and the scowling chest thumping
behavior when he did succeed really turned me off. The bandage on the head
at the press conference was no doubt the low point.
Then came Ray and Garnett and the playoff run to the championship in 2008.
Watching those games against the Lakers in the finals with Pierce playing banged up and often guarding the Lakers best player in Kobe. Playing almost every minute , leading the team in scoring , taking it to the basket in the 4th quarter and hitting his free throws in crunch time.
Watching alone . I stood up and said aloud

" That's a Celtic "

Best wishes Paul Pierce

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Yeah, he's an all-time great. He's had such an eventful career, with the stabbing and everything.

The 2008 championship is probably the most meaningful one in NBA history. 2nd worst record in the league last season, Pierce going through a bad rebuilding stage, and having it all turn around. Wow. Then in the playoffs, we overcome multiple Game 7s - in that run, we had the most games played ever in a single post-season. Then to top it all off, we play and beat the Lakers.

That's one of the greatest feel good stories in all of sports.
