Greivis Vasquez

With Holliday headed to New Orleans I would really love for the Cs to go after Vasquez.  I watched a ton of his games last season and love his game.  Excellent passer and ahooter.  Maybe they would be interested in something like CLee or BradleyI and a pick?  We could have Vasquez as a 2nd PG or could move Rondo for something really nice...

What do you guys think?  I know he isnt a great defender but I think he can be OK in the right system - and offensively he really is a wizard on the court.

Thats heading in the wrong direction. We are clearly tanking so we shouldn't be working on bringing in more talent. We should be moving out our current talent for draft picks and young players who are still developing.

I do like Vasquez though. I think he is a great all around PG, but his lack of athleticism is going to eventually catch up to him. On top of that after this season he is in for a big payday and I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to bet he doesn't drop off.

Outside of his playmaking and rebounding, the dude is below average in virtually every other facet of the game. He's not that athletic, so while he's smart enough to remain a great playmaker, it hinders everything else in his game. His shooting is subpar. His defense is downright atrocious.

I think him averaging 9 assists a game on the Hornets really have a lot of people high on him, but that's the worst case scenario for whoever gets him because his rookie contract is up this year and will almost assuredly get way overpaid. I'm thinking a Devin Harris-type situation from a few years back.

34% from 3-point land is pretty good for a PG if you ask me.  He is still young and has been getting better by the day.  I love his feel for the game and I really think we could get him for cheap right now considering the Pelicans roster situation - maybe for Lee and a 2nd or something...?

What do the rest of you think?  I think if we land him, it allows us to fill a scoring position (SG?) by moving Rondo - maybe even get Vasquez along with Eric Gordon if we could include a 3rd team...?  I just really think this guy has what the Celtics fans would love to see one the floor - heart, hustle, pride - and he is a pretty smart player from all I can see.

He did a great job improving his 3-point shot, I'll give him credit for that. But otherwise, he doesn't have that much more untapped potential, and his defense is a glaring flaw. He's essentially a crappier-shooting Calderon, which is not bad at all. That's still a very competent PG. However, in today's league dominated by quick, athletic PGs, I don't like him one bit, especially given that he's in line for a big payday next offseason.
