The Celtics could not offer these two stars another legit chance to topple Miami.  But Brooklyn does.  That team is pretty stacked.  Lacking a little depth, sure.  But so is Miami.  Wade and Bosh look like shells of their former selves.  I think Brooklyn has a real chance to hoist an O'Brien trophy next year.

Obviously I love the Celtics as a team much more so than any one player.  But Paul Pierce will always hold a big piece of my fan-soul.  So seeing him get to play in a big market, for a big time owner, for one last shot at a title - well, I honestly can't wait for next year's playoffs.

Same thing for KG.  Guy's a freakin' warrior!!  His toughness and intensity would be wasted on the C's mediocre roster.  Next year he'll be rejuvenated and fired the heck up like he was in '08 when he came here.  Watching Brooklyn take down the detestable Miami Heat (thus making crybaby Lebron crawl back to Cleveland in '14) will be 60% as satisfying as the C's winning another title.

Am I alone on this?

They won't be a contender. Brooklyn is NOT a contender. Even with KG and Pierce.

I don't see them even getting out of the first round.

Yes, of course.  I was born in Brooklyn and now I have another good reason to cheer.

lol wut?  D-Will is a top 3 PG, Lopez a top 3 center, Johnson a top 10 SG.  They won almost 50 games last year.  Now they've got angry, motivated beast-mode versions of KG and PP.  Add the Jet for depth, and this is absolutely a top tier team in the East.  They have the size and strength to compete with Indy.  They have incredible veteran experience and clutch play to rumble with Miami.

Obvious concern is the untested coach in JKidd.  But if he sucks, The Russian will bounce him early and break the bank to bring in Phil Jax, or one of the Gundy bros before Christmas.  Of course the age of the players means any injuries could be devastating.  But if the chips fall right, and nobody gets hurt in Mar or April - look the hell out, NBA.  This team will be very, very tough to beat in the playoffs.

LeBron James > Nets

Thats what it comes down too. Nets have to make their 5 guys mesh as well.

Assuming the starting 5 stays healthy, I can't agree.

This team looks especially built to take down the Heat, who've generally compensated for their awful defense against elite point guards by throwing LeBron on them (as we saw with Rose in 2011). No way they can get away with that against the Nets, there's no where to hide anyone on defense against this squad.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I think the Nets will pose a tough matchup for the Heat. They are a very big team. There size will give the Heat problems, but they need to find another wing aside from Paul to battle with Lebron come playoff time. Maybe KG inspires Johnson to play defense like he did Pierce when they teamed up.

I will certainly be rooting for them.

I think they will be very very good.  Think it will help drastically for those guys to fet a little help offensively.

KG will certainly change that team defensively.

I don't think people are really expecting ththem to be a true contender but I think that is a seriously underestimatinf them. I think they will certainly be a top 3 team in the NBA

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I am glad that they're going together with a chance to win a couple more titles. Gotta root for someone while we're rebuilding...
