Maybe they want someone such as Billy King or other mediocre, or dumb GMs instead.

Foresight meaning being stuck on Wallace's contract for the next three years? Having three 1st rounders that are in the 20's? What are we trying to rebuild our team with, aging overpaid players and late first round pick talent?

The trade value was disgusting. Having KG and Paul with us has more value than whatever we are getting. Them, their production and mentoring and being the leaders of this team for one more year is better than any lottery pick next year or whatever the Nets gave us.

Roy is right, lottery balls is more important now than winning and competing. That's a disgrace. We didn't even get good value for this trade.

Please rationalize it for me. We must be looking through different glasses..

I'd just like to make sure my name is clearly linked to the "Ainge is awful" camp. When he is axed in two years, we will appear to have had more foresight than Nastradamus himself.

Right, we couldn't have gotten a worse return. And their value here far surpassed anything we were going to bring back. We still have Sully, Bradley, and Green... solid players to build on for the future - why would you not take advantage of what KG and Paul can do for them? Their roles in the development of Bradley, Sully, Rondo, Perk, Allen, etc. has already been wildly overlooked here.

All we've done is replace them with washed up vets on bad contracts, and a few picks that will more than likely contribute nothing to a rebuild.

It's the opposite of enthusiasm...

Judgment? Are you suggesting this trade was an astute way of landing Wiggins? I'm not sure you realize how small the chance of that happening is, no matter how awful we are next season.

Okay, I want to hear what you would have wanted if you were in Danny's shoes.

Danny has to look for the future of the franchise as well. I believe this was the way to go. PP and KG will only be here one more season and then what? Remember the earlier incarnation of the Big Three? I don't want to remember the dark ages where we were the laughing stock of the league.

I still trust Danny. Wyc does, so should you also?

Can't wait to read all the irrationally defensive posts to come after this trade.

Can somebody still defend DA?!

I'm curious how the OP decided how many exclamation points to use in the title.  Why not a couple more?

I think Danny deserves a raise after orchestrating this deal.  Possibly one of the best moves of his career

c'mon...we were not going anywhere and he got the best deal available WHILE (and for me it is a very important point) making sure that KG and PP were dealt together and to a possible contender! I honestly think that DA made a very good move.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Danny did his job.

I would have supported a run it back but I figure the outcome would have netted between a 1st or at best a 2nd round exit. At worst, we would have just made or just missed the playoffs. PP ain't what he used to be and Josh Smith wouldn't put us over the edge if we got him. But it would have been nice to see 1 more year. I would have savored every moment.

But this day was coming one way or another and Danny might get us out of the cellar sooner rather than later with moves like this and instead of holding onto the core.

None of this is a surprise. The biggest surprise to me was Doc leaving. But I understand why he left too.

It's time.

Danny did his job.
