I was reading the Hangtime blog on nba.com and saw this. I mean he is under contract but he's probably not too happy right now.

Not even Rajon Rondo, the Celtics’ injured All-Star point guard, is off-limits, according to a league executive who informed NBA.com that Rondo is waiting to see who Ainge replaces Rivers with and what happens this summer before deciding if he wants to be a part of the rebuild that the other members of the core are clearly trying to avoid.

He's legally obligated to work for us via contract.

He's a difficult personality.  I'm positive Ainge is looking at trying to trade him today.  He's been looking at trying to trade him for years.  He's not someone you build a champion around and he's certainly not someone you want as the face of a rebuilding franchise.  Rondo's 27 years old coming off ACL surgery and this team is in full-blown tank mode.  We're getting some cheap coach to babysit.  If he couldn't get along with Doc Rivers, one of the most personable "player's coach" in the league, there's no way he's going to get along with some bargain-bin company man.  Rondo is going to hate it.  Dude only gets up for playoff games... he'll be mailing it in every night and probably fight with his coach daily.  Terrible situation for him.

So is every person who has ever quit their job. This is how NBA players quit their jobs.

Didn't even have to read the name to know who the poster was.

While I do agree with your posts, Rondo is still a good leader, and is someone who most players listen to. While he may not have the most attractive personality, you can't deny the talent he can bring. Oh wait, yes you can LOL.

And of course Rondo isn't used to being part of a rebuild... He's used to winning, no one in their prime wants to waste it all away, by being part of a rebuild, so I can see him being traded. But at this point for what? Pennies on the dollar? Build his trade value next year, and convince him that he can either play this year out, or can request a trade. And as much as you want to say he was stat padding, if it wasn't for Rondo we wouldn't even gotten to past 4 games in the ECF against the Heat.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

It would be a mistake to get rid of Rondo at this point. If we aren't building a team around him, it sets our rebuild back for years until we can get another franchise caliber player (and who knows where we are going to get it?).

Bring him up for a month or until he pads some good stats then trade him for an expiring and a lottery pick in the 2014 draft

1. Who knows if this is true.

2. I have no doubt that after he comes back and shows he's good to go then the Celtics will probably trade him if they can get something good for him.

I hope they keep him unless they can pull off something huge with him. I'm a Rondo fan myself.
Peace through Tyranny

as a fan, I have long been questioning if he is worth building around, so I guess we are all even then

this is why you have to have a serious legit coach, or else the good payers on the team rebel an think the owners don't give. flip.....

I believe having a good coach players want to pay for and stay for is important,  so what good is having good players if the coach is a freakin nobody and they won't  come as FA's or stay.
