I understand why they had to be traded...but I absolutely hate every player the nets are sending over. I don't want them in Boston. basketball skills are suspect and they are unlikeable people . They have no redeeming qualities. I don't want to have to watch them suck for the next year. I will still cheer for the true Cs...but I will not cheer for the new guys being sent over

I like it, even if we can't swap for Smith as well. It'd be awesome if we could.

Rondo/TWill
Bradley/Lee
Green/Wallace
Smith/Sully
Evans/Melo

I'll take that ANY day. I love that roster. Probably the greatest defensive team ever.

Me too! Am I the only one elated to be moving on from KG, Doc, Pierce and Terry?

"Elated"?

Yeah, what did those bums ever do for us, anyway?

Terry, I'll give you.  I'm surprised that any Celtics fan is gleefully celebrating that we'll no longer get to watch Pierce and KG, though.

Because for me, it was time to move on. The brand of Celtic basketball that we were seeing toward the end of this season and going into the playoffs was awful. I am judging Pierce and KG for their current abilities, now what they were able to do 5 years ago.

Prediction:  The brand of Celtics basketball we'll be seeing going forward will be much more awful.

My prediction: We see a more exciting Celtics team which will be tougher and more fun to watch than a team of old guys taking nights off while limping into the playoffs with a 7 seed and then laying an egg vs the Knicks.

Who needs this:

... when you can have this?

Yea because the c's were really going to be title contenders if they kept KG and PP, with Rondo and Sully coming back from major surgeries.... ::)

Yeah, because bad contracts and late round draft picks are the keys to championship contention.  ::)

We came one win away from the NBA Finals two years ago.  Which is more likely, 1) that that team could have contended after a year lost to injury, or 2) a bunch of late-round picks will lead us to the promised land?

first of all....

You have no idea those picks are going to be late 1st round. They could just as easily be lottery picks. What are the Nets going to be when kg and pp are gone in 2 years, and as Williams and Johnson continue to age ?

Did you watch PP in the playoffs ? he is not a #1 option anymore, and has lost more than a step. KG is 37 with bone spurs in both ankles .

Wallace's contract will be a valuable expiring in a few years who we can use in trades with some of the picks we are getting .

But let's just keep bashing it because KG and PP are going to lead us to a title !!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy for KG and Paul that  they will get to play for a ring next year and can take out the Heat and Ray Allen. Great trade for KG and Paul, and great trade for the celtics to ensure that we rebuild soon. Ainge did an excellent job.
I guess we're in the minority.  You have to take the long view here, and with Doc gone the writing was on the wall t the next 2 shoes would drop.  Ainge did exactly what he said Red did not do at the end of the Bird/McHale/Parish era, and got something back for his aging stars. The rebuilding may take 4 years or so, but it won't be 8-12 years.

I had prepared myself for this after Doc was traded so not disappointed as some here.

I agree feel the exact same way. It sucks seeing them go bunch of memories...will remember this era forever. I'm happy for them though they aren't dealt seperately or kept here when we're tearing the team apart. They can ride out the last 1-2 years together and hang it up on their own terms if they choose. I won't root against them two ever and wish them well.

The Cavs get Kyrie Irving for taking on a few million dollars of Baron Davis' contract.

The Celtics get three (most likely) mediocre draft picks for taking on three years of Gerald Wallace's $10 million per year contract, plus Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

That sounds about right.

This is going to be a really bad basketball team. Painful to watch.

@Chris_Broussard: (cont) K Humphries, G Wallace, Reggie Evans, Tornike Shengalia, Keith Bogans going to Boston.

Those five guys suck. Awful. I hope none remain in Boston past this next dreadful season

If the C's don't release Keith Bogans immediately i will be highly upset.

Danny will have plenty of garbage to choose from when he fills out this roster. Humphries, Wallace, bogans, Evans, Joseph, the foreign stiff, Crawford, Williams, Randolph

Other than rondo green lee  Bradley sully and olynyc...the rest of the squad stinks. Choose wisely Danny..20 wins will be a disappointment ...we need less

This is possibly the worst day I've ever had as a Celtics fan. I could not be less of a fan of today's moves.

Quoted for truth and nothing but the truth. It hurts even more that I do not like any players that the Nets are sending our way (Evans can rebound, so that is good). This team will be unwatchable for the next few years.

Who even makes this team? Seems they are locked into the nets junk having to be on the roster unfortunately

I will always cheer for the celtics. But it will be hard to with what they are putting out there next year. I will be cheering harder for the nets now

actually, the "foreign stiff" may turn out to be the only keeper in that pile of dross from brooklyn.

after you learn his name check out his stats in the d-league and read up on him on draftexpress. he is no star, but he could be a good player off the bench on a good team.

but that would be 4-5 years from now. then, all the dross will be gone from the celtics and most of the good players gone from the nets. i think the the 2018 pick has credible chances of being in the lottery.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Before this season, Gerald Wallace was a really fun player to watch. He's certainly not worth his contract, but if he can pull a Wade and show some flashes of Crash in Boston I'll be pretty stoked.
