I like it, even if we can't swap for Smith as well. It'd be awesome if we could.

Rondo/TWill
Bradley/Lee
Green/Wallace
Smith/Sully
Evans/Melo

I'll take that ANY day. I love that roster. Probably the greatest defensive team ever.

Me too! Am I the only one elated to be moving on from KG, Doc, Pierce and Terry?

"Elated"?

Yeah, what did those bums ever do for us, anyway?

Terry, I'll give you.  I'm surprised that any Celtics fan is gleefully celebrating that we'll no longer get to watch Pierce and KG, though.

Because for me, it was time to move on. The brand of Celtic basketball that we were seeing toward the end of this season and going into the playoffs was awful. I am judging Pierce and KG for their current abilities, now what they were able to do 5 years ago.

Prediction:  The brand of Celtics basketball we'll be seeing going forward will be much more awful.

My prediction: We see a more exciting Celtics team which will be tougher and more fun to watch than a team of old guys taking nights off while limping into the playoffs with a 7 seed and then laying an egg vs the Knicks.

Man, Chris Humphries in a Celtics uniform.  :'(  Man, Gerald Wallace, who cannot shoot anymore, has completely lost his confidence, and looked like he aged 10 years last year.  :'(  Who the hell is going to want to watch this wretched collection next year?

Agree. The guys the nets are sending over a pure garbage....even if they are not long term. Wlace for 3 years is a horrible thing.

I'm happy for KG and Paul that  they will get to play for a ring next year and can take out the Heat and Ray Allen. Great trade for KG and Paul, and great trade for the celtics to ensure that we rebuild soon. Ainge did an excellent job.

My heart truly hurts right now. Same feeling when Larry/mchale retired. I am sick to my stomach. I am going to miss pierce and kg. I am just sad tonight

Feel the same exact way. Just so depressing

Yea because the c's were really going to be title contenders if they kept KG and PP, with Rondo and Sully coming back from major surgeries.... ::)

Question: How do you feel about playing with Kevin Garnett, a veteran big of his caliber?

Mason Plumlee: I'm excited about a lot of these guys. I've watched KG my whole life, so I'm very excited about it.

This is going to be a really bad basketball team. Painful to watch.

@Chris_Broussard: (cont) K Humphries, G Wallace, Reggie Evans, Tornike Shengalia, Keith Bogans going to Boston.

Those five guys suck. Awful. I hope none remain in Boston past this next dreadful season

Exactly. I can't tell if those disagreeing with the trade are seeing things from a current perspective or a 2008 perspective. Because the KG of today is 37 years old with bone spurs in his ankles. And the Paul Pierce I saw in the playoffs this year looked cooked!

If anyone truly thought the Celts would've been competitive this year with another year of KG and Pierce, then in my humble opinion, you were going to be in for a big disappointment.

As much as this hurts it had to be done. Getting 3 first round picks for two aging stars was a good move.
If they were kept the Celts win 45 games next year and a first round exit. Plus their value goes down even more and end up walking for nothing. All of the pressure is on Ainge now, he HAS TO hit on most of these picks or this will be looked at as a complete failure.

Yeah, because bad contracts and late round draft picks are the keys to championship contention.  ::)

We came one win away from the NBA Finals two years ago.  Which is more likely, 1) that that team could have contended after a year lost to injury, or 2) a bunch of late-round picks will lead us to the promised land?

"THIS" completely misses Roy H.'s point.

My prediction is that next season reminds us what awful means.  We've fortunately forgotten over the past five years.  It is necessary however.

Also, I think Ainge believes he can trade Wallace.  There will be a few playoff/fringe teams in need of a SF next season.

which, as many have pointed out here at cb, is exactly the point. the celtics will stink up the place for at least 2 years, no doubt. no one doubts that.

but it was coming anyway.

for me, i will do what i did during the 22 years that preceeded the KG era...root for the kids and hope they get good enough to let ainge make more trades for more stars.

ainge will have a bucket of picks that he needs to turn into assets and then trade some of them and sign free agents.

hopefully along the way we can enjoy seeing the kids develop.

honestly, i wont stop watching the celtics. that is just me.
